The design that blasted guitar into the space age.
The Epiphone 1958 Explorer Electric Guitar is based on the '58 Gibson design that ushered in the space age! The 1958 Explorer features a 24-3/4"-scale maple neck with rosewood fingerboard. Two Alnico Classic humbuckers give it its rock 'n' roll voice, with one tone and two volume knobs and a three-way switch for shifting from rhythm to high-altitude leads. The LockTone Tune-O-Matic bridge and LockTone stopbar tailpiece add more sustain and make string changing easier. Limited lifetime warranty.

Simply The Best
Comments about Epiphone 1958 Explorer Electric Guitar:
I just got mine ... with the Korina Body and after playing strats for the last 6 yrs, I needed a change. At first, it wouldnt stay in tune but that was because the studs at the bottom of the tailpiece were not tightened. After doing that and a small set-up, I was pleasantly pleased at the sound of the guitar. The action is lightening fast, and the sustain is simply the best Ive ever heard. And this was before I hooked up my Digitech RP-50 to my amp. This guitar is a keeper and is going nowhere. Buy one, you wont regret it.

Pretty good Guitar
Comments about Epiphone 1958 Explorer Electric Guitar:
This guitar is pretty nice. Not great but good. I am in a metal band and its not quite a metal sound more of a punk or 80's style rock. It has some tuning problems especially when you get up to the higher frets but it plays nice. All in all it is worth getting.

The Explorer Rocks
Comments about Epiphone 1958 Explorer Electric Guitar:
The explorer is a beautiful guitar. It is one of the nicest guitars I have ever played (and i played a lot of guitars). The pickups are very nice the 1958 epiphone explorer's pickups are better than the 1958 gibsons pickups.

Great Guitar
Comments about Epiphone 1958 Explorer Electric Guitar:
I bought the Explorer after playing a friend's, last Jan. I was amazed at the super fast action this neck has. The Humbucker pickups sound great and I play my Explorer through a Marshall Stack and the sound is amazing. I did not expect that an Epiphone would be such an awesome axe. I bought the Korina model and I am very very satisfied. Allan Collins one of the founding guitarist for Lynyrd Skynyrd played a Gibson Korina and mine sounds every bit as good as the Gibson. The body style lets the crowd know right off the bat that thier in for a Rock n Roll show. The gold hardware makes the Explorer a very beautiful instrument. The action is fast and furious and the sound is A W E S O M E!!!!!

Great Guitar
Comments about Epiphone 1958 Explorer Electric Guitar:
I bought the Korina 1958 Epiphone Explorer, simply because I've wanted one for many years. I am a Fender Stratocaster person and I own several Strats. I wanted a different sound, and I did'nt want to plunk down the money for a Gibson. My friend owns an Epiphone Firebird and after I played it I was impressed with the quaility, playability and sound. I ordered the Explorer and one week to the day I recieved it. I have'nt played my strats since. This guitar has "Firepower" with the two Humbucker pickups and the two volume controls. I stopped at a music store near where I live and they had one new Gibson Explorer,so I tried it out and I think the Epiphone blows it away. This guitar has awesome sustain and a smooth and super fast action. I play it through a Fender G-DEC amp which has several foot pedals implanted in the amp itself, from wah wah to screamin' metal to clear. I love the fact that you can go from Pure Rock n Roll to a clean pure guitar sound with the Explorer. The gold hardware makes this guitar look very expensive. It has Grover-matic tuning keys which are one of the best. In summary, the 1958 Korina Epiphone Explorer kicks butt, takes no prisoner's and for the price,it is a "steal". If you buy one,pay a few bucks more and get the Explorer case. Alway's protect your guitar(s). Take good care of them and they will take good care of you and will last a lifetime. I'm off to play my Explorer, I just thought I'd let anyone who was interested in buying one, know how truely Awesome the Epiphone Explorer is. And,the folks at Music123 are really nice and will help you with all of your concerns.....Doug

best guitar I've seen
Comments about Epiphone 1958 Explorer Electric Guitar:
This is a wonderful example when you take the sound of a Gibson and put it with the the price of a Epiphone this is one of the best guitars I've played and I have played esp, Jacksons and have a Steve Vai bad horsie. I play mostly metal and some Malmsteen and it sounds wonderful with distortion and when playing clean it also has a wonderful rich tone the only bad thing is the neck is a little heavy but if you want to play metal or anything fast this is the one for you.

The best guitar ever
Comments about Epiphone 1958 Explorer Electric Guitar:
I love the explorer! The body may seem clumsy but its not! It is perfectly weighed and lies very good in your knee! The sound goes from crystal clear to very heavy distortion (great humbuckers)and the sustain makes the tone stay forever.Without a doubt the best guitar ever.

freaking awesome
Comments about Epiphone 1958 Explorer Electric Guitar:
This guitar is just perfect. The pickups give great tone and sound. It is perfect for rhythm, but is exceptionally good for leads. This guitar is good for death metal to classic skynyrd, van Halen, anything. I have even played classical and jazz on it. perfect. (korina finish is beautiful)
