Revved up retro.

Designed to be flashy and versatile, the Mach IV electric guitar offers more than just eye appeal; it doles out a good variety of tones and boasts good workmanship. A flipped over body, sweet finish, pearloid and chrome components, and groovy racing stripes (except on the all-white model) make it look like a cross between a '50s dining set and a classic sports car. The star-shaped inlays match the pearloid overlays nicely. The solid stop tailpiece bridge is adjustable for intonation.

The construction is good, with a tight four-bolt neck joint and lustrous finish. The electronics assembly and components are solid, especially for an instrument in this price range. The tone controls and output jack are grounded via a metal-foil plate attached to the pickguard's underside, and the Mach IV is quiet.

Basic in its tone-shaping components -- a tone knobs, a volume knob, and pickup selector -- the Mach IV is surprisingly versatile. The neck-pickup is placed at an angle only about 3/8" away form the end of the slanted fingerboard, yielding a good variety of sounds. The Mach IV sounds slightly boxy with a prominent midrange and grinding top end. Blending pickups results in a full-bodied tone that works well in many styles.

The Mach IV is the perfect 'attitude guitar' for surf, punk, or just about anything that requires being noticed. Flashy? You bet. Good-sounding? That too. Make sure your chops and wardrobe are up to it, you're going to be in the spotlight.

Perdy good.

Comments about DiPinto Mach IV Electric Guitar:

I own one of these(white), a Mosrite Johnny Ramone Model, and a Mosrite Ventures Model. Nothing beats the Mosrites, but this can still rock. I've played many Mosrites, Univoxes, Wilson Brothers, and many other Mosrite style copies, and I've got to say that I like this model the most (out of the copies). It just has the fell of a nice guitar and it plays like a dream. I did have some problems with the volume pot, but I had my tech solder it up for me and she was playing' perfect. Great buy, don't pass it up.

Versatile guitar

Comments about DiPinto Mach IV Electric Guitar:

Pretty good guitar - I'll admit, I bought it for its weird vintage look, and was taken with its versatile tone. In the lead position the highs are very pronounced - goes great with distortion and can provide a "shredding" tone, for lack of a better cliche. Switched to rhythm, it can have a very full bluesy tone that sounds amazing. Throw distortion on this, and its a full tone with little hum, contrasting other guitars. Neck has very quick action and is a comfort to play on. My only problem with the guitar is that the high frets (13+) are tiny and clumped, which makes it very hard to play your high wailing, dramatic and over the top solos. Great look and feel, good price and craftsmanship, compared to those big name staples. Comfortable body, too.

This guitar is worth every cent.

Comments about DiPinto Mach IV Electric Guitar:

I looked everywhere for a left handed guitar with the tone and sustain that I need for my music. I play this thing through a 1960's Sears 30Watt tube amp, and it sounds AMAZING. Great sustain, awesome action and a solid body. It feels like this guitar could take a lot of abuse. For the price, you can't beat one of these for a solid body electric. Recently discovered that the Mach IV is available with a surf tremolo, after market from DiPinto. The folks at DiPinto are excellent as well as the folks at Music123. DiPinto offers every guitar they make in a lefty which is great for those of us who are (roughly 15% of all guitarists).

Real guitarist's opinion

By Pinion101

Comments about DiPinto Mach IV Electric Guitar:

Sorry, but how cool it looks isn't enough info. It's a good solid guitar, pickups are great. Not very high gain, humbucker sounds really powerful, lots of drive, single coil sounds very crisp and clear. I've played lots of different guitars. I don't think I'll play anymore, this is the one.

Good Guitar

Comments about DiPinto Mach IV Electric Guitar:

I bought this guitar about 1 month ago and I love it. It plays great and looks great. I had 2 technical problems but they were easily fixed. The first was a loose input hex-nut which rattled loose and fell off, the second was similar but with the volume knob. I tightened all the nuts and I haven't had a problem since.
