Great guitar!

By william galbraith

from Undisclosed

Comments about Dean Performer E Acoustic-Electric Guitar:

I just bought this guitar! It is really great. It has a nice bright full sound. I love the size and look! I got the transparent red one (Note the picture of the red is not accurate, the red is closer to bright cherry/candy apple red)! I replaced a full size dreadnought with it, and even with the smaller body size, the performer has really great sound and volume unplugged! I can't wait to try it plugged in. The only thing I'll have to get used to is no pickgaurd. Great guitar for the money!

Awesome looks and performance

By Wayne Angermeyer

from Leesburg, Ga.

Comments about Dean Performer E Acoustic-Electric Guitar:

Really a great guitar!! Sound is Beautiful - Exceptionally good sustain. The pickup works great and the electronics work perfectly. The on-board tuner is very easy to use and a great help. I got the blue sunburst and WOW what great looks!! It looks black until the light hits it and the color just explodes. Very little retuning needed after transport, which is Great. I would have to rate it as exceptional.

Performer rocks!

By John O.

from Jamestown, NY

Comments about Dean Performer E Acoustic-Electric Guitar:

I love my Dean Performer, for a reasonably priced electric-accoustic you can't beat the sound or the way it plays. I am a lover of the mellow tones because I like doing a lot of jazz/big band tunes. I find this a great instrument to use either accoustically or with an amp. Versatile and mellow.

I Wish They Had These When I Was First Learning!

By Rick Lindstrom

from SF Bay Area

Comments about Dean Performer E Acoustic-Electric Guitar:

This is my first Dean guitar, I bought it for a friend who expressed an interest in learning how to play. But when I took it out of the box, I fell in love with the little beastie. OK, it's not perfect. The sound is a bit on thin side, the intonation of the low E starts to fall apart around the 12th fret. But beyond that, I've got nothing to complain about. The onboard tuner and electronics are SUPERB for such a low cost guitar, and the XLR output jack (along with the 1/4" phone jack) means you can quickly plug in to a mixer by just unplugging a mike. I can't think of a more useful guitar for just banging around on, or taking on a trip. I normally play a Taylor 414CE for acoustic, and an American Strat for electric, but don't want to subject them to the harsh realities of life needlessy. The Dean Performer lets me play acoustic or electric without risking either expensive axe. The only thing I did was set it up with light Elixirs, which actually didn't make a huge improvement over the stock D'Addario strings. So, Tony, if you're reading this, go buy your own. I'm keeping this one!

Bright, Full, Beautiful Sound - Excellent On-Board Tuner

By Ed Ross

from Los Angeles

Comments about Dean Performer E Acoustic-Electric Guitar:

I was looking for a good guitar in this price range and had narrowed it down between the Ibanez AEL10EBK and the Dean Performer E Acoustic Electric Guitar. They seemed pretty equivalent from their description. Originally I had decided on the Ibanez because it had an established name (I never heard of Dean) and the pickup it used was an established brand ( a Fishman Sonicore). By contrast the Dean had it's own pickup which I knew nothing about. I was about to buy the Ibanez but I wanted to hear it first. I went to a local music store and took it down to try out. To my surprise it sounded very shallow, wooden, and muddy. There was very little resonance to the instrument. It sounded almost like a solid body guitar. When you strum all the strings at the same time it sounds muddled. I plugged in the Ibanez and found it sounded the same way. It was muddled. You didn't hear the individual strings. Just an overall "blahhh". As it happens, another music store down the street had the Dean Performer E so just for kicks I went there to try it out. I was shocked by how beautiful it sounded for such an inexpensive guitar. The instrument resonated. You could hear each string brightly and clearly. When plugged into an amp the sound was bright, and full. I also found that the Dean had an "on-board" tuner with a graphic LED output that allowed you to tune the guitar instantly. This tuner is actually one of the best I have ever used. It tells you exactly when the string is in tune. It doesn't bounce around all over the place like other tuners I've used. I found from this experience that "name" isn't everything. Sometimes products from an established and well known company can under-perform newcommers. In this case that is exactly what I found. Needless to say I bought the Dean and have been very happy with it since.

Comments about Dean Performer E Acoustic-Electric Guitar:

My Dean Playmate (lefty) came and I was satisfied with the Guitar. Besides a few minor finish imperfections the guitar meets my needs. The electronics are solid. Yes I cranked it up :-) As my second/practice acoustic I see a long future. Thanks Music 123 for the timely shiping and all your help in making my purchase.

a pretty good guitar

By jack-m0z63

from san fransisco, ca usa

Comments about Dean Performer E Acoustic-Electric Guitar:

I just started playing guitar about 4 months ago and I decided on this one. Its good for me. One thing bad is that the hole to put the cord into is coming lose so I have to tighten it all the time. I don't know if that happens to other guitars but it happens on mine.

Excellent Guitar

By Paul B.-hu_g-

from Columbus, MS

Comments about Dean Performer E Acoustic-Electric Guitar:

The Dean Performer E is without a doubt one of the best that I've ever played. Out of the box, the set-up was great. The Shadow EQ system provides crystal-clear signal to the sound system. Although inexpensive, it is not a "beater". The finish is excellent, the structure/bracing is great. The sound is phenomenal amplified, and great acoustically. It's not going to have a dreadnought sound, simply because it's not a dreadnought. It's a concert grand, and it sounds like the best of those I've ever played, Gibson, Taylor, Takamine, etc. I've been playing for 33 years, and have been a loyal Ovation player and still love them, but this guitar plays like a dream, and has become my favorite performing instrument.
