Dollar for dollar, there is NO guitar that compares. If you like a beautiful satin mahogany finish with tone comparable to much more costly guitars, The EVO XM is for you. When I bought it I expected an O.K. guitar but was I ever surprised. This is a really superb, precision, quality instrument. My 68 Fender Strat's been collecting dust (just an expression)lately and probably will for the forseeable future.

I bought one of these and it seemed to play fine in the store -- and the price was right. When I got it home, I found that there was an awful buzz, which had not been apparent to me on the store's amp. I took it back and the store's luthier tried his best to get rid of the buzz. The store offered to replace it with another guitar since they could not fix the neck. I tried every EVO XM in stock and only one would stay in tune when you pulled strings. The tuners are a problem. When the luthier tried to adjust the intonation on the one with tuners that stayed in tune, he broke the bridge due to it having cheap, soft steel adjustment screws. I took a refund instead of exchange. Two days later at another store, I bought another Dean EVO XM and the salesman adjusted the neck to take out a slight buzz. I am very happy with this guitar, For comparison, my only other electric is a Gibson SG that I bought in 1970. This particular Dean EVO XM has excellent sustain, stays in tune, and has an excellent tone. The action is not as nice as on my SG, but it's an excellent guitar. But this one is the excpetion! It was the only good guitar of some 20 other EVO XM guitars stocked at the two large music stores. WARNING: There is no consistency. Go to a store and you might find the one in 20 Dean guitars that has working tuners, bridge, and neck. Again, I am happy with the one I have now.

Comments about Dean Evo XM Electric Guitar:

I got this guitar back in 2006 and still use it on occation. The tuners arn't that good but I put 10's on mine and that has helped alot stays in tune well now. The pickup's are good I haven't changed then and are good for what they are good for hard rock and heavy metal.Electronics are good overall quality is good.I take care of all my gear and this guitar is still mint like when i got it with the exception of the vener finish it is not sprayed on or stained at all more like a sticker was used to wrap it in but it does look really nice but does scratch off or dent easy as others have said. I got mine for less than what it sells for now.I have used it to play a few small gigs at a bar and it worked out really well no problems what so ever.It has a nice neck on the thin side and really easy to play it is also fast.Nice Les Paul style body.I have had no issues with any fret buzz but mine was set up in the store when i bought it.All the XM series are very good entery level/beginner/intermediate guitars.I recomend this to anyone beginner or pro needing a good quality guitar for an affordable price. It is a good guitar for what it is.

Greaaaa!!!!!

Comments about Dean Evo XM Electric Guitar:

I recently bought this guitar about two weeks ago. It sounded good by it self but there was a slight buzz with the strings when I started to play. I got sick of that happening so I changed the stock strings and got some Power Slinky Ernie Balls. Ever since I did that the guitar has sounded a lot better for me. Dean definately made an awesome guitar and I am very excited to own it. This guitar is great for beginners or anybody who just wants to add this to a collection.

Rock on garth.

By Ron Jables Winston

Comments about Dean Evo XM Electric Guitar:

Great guitar for a great price. I have never been able to solo, I always purchased fender products. Some reason with this guitar I can solo with ease. I hate solos, but none the less... I can do it. Pros: Awesome shape, awesome color, awesome sound, awesome all around Cons: I find my self toying with the tunning knobs a lot. I called up dean, and complained, they sent me new ones... OF THE SAME THING!

Can't beat it for the price

By Greg Reid

Comments about Dean Evo XM Electric Guitar:

I surprised! The thing actually has great tone and playability for what it is. Bottom line; It's a great guitar for this price range and plays better than most of the $300 guitars I played before picking this one up.

Price, Sound, Construction, in that order.

By S. E. Ashe

Comments about Dean Evo XM Electric Guitar:

I grabbed this little guy for my brother. He's passively tinkering with guitar and his squire strat was just not cutting it. I took a chance on good reviews and grabbed him the XM. I was stringing it for him on christmas eve, but I had to blow the surprise as I was just desperate to play it. Out of the box the action was beautifully low and perfectly even. I threw on some fine Elixer's for him and took it down to the PA. I wasn't expecting much when I plugged this thing in, but I was blown away.Looking past the pretty finish and slick black hardware (the 4 stars is for the crappy tuners, which needed to be tightened up), the sound was amazing. Don't be discouraged by a single master tone knob, there's still PLENTY of control. You're able to get nice tinny highs and warm lows out of it without any effects. Some slight overdrive is even possible before the pedal row. I've got a keen ear, and overall, I loved the sound and warmth of this guitar. I was afraid of a $99 piece, but I have to say, it's miles ahead of those $200 squire starter packs. Save yourself the trouble, grab this and a decent little practice amp. I'd use this guitar for myself if I didnt have my own already. They also built a Vendetta XM too now, so if you demand 24 frets and a double cutaway, check it out - it's the same hardware and electronics.

EARGASMIC

Comments about Dean Evo XM Electric Guitar:

This guitar simply rocks!!! Especially with it's price. It can't be beat! The internet doesn't do the mohagony finish justice what so ever!! It's so beautiful. Suprising the pickups are extremely decent as well!! The first time I plugged in i wasn't expecting quality sound like i got. I recommend this guitar to any level of guitarist, for whatever style of music you might play... I love this guitar.
