Awesome little instrument

When I purchased my own guitar, My instructor suggested I buy a better Guitar. After playing my Alvarez, He has bought an AD60K for himself. Nice finish, fast action, and a sound that can not be equaled.

Nothing is perfect but this is very close

By Bill-r9rIw

from Maryland

As the dad of a very enthusiastic guitar player currently in high school, I choose to support my daughter's activities with an occasional new instrument. A couple years ago when we were looking for a Jumbo for her we must have tried 60 different guitars. Some of the best known "high quality" names just didn't float her boat. She is petite at 5'2" but has kind of longish thin fingers for her height. Some of the very nice guitars we were looking at just didn't feel right to her. As most players know, a guitar neck is a very personal thing. Others just didn't project enough for her, especially with finger picking. Fast forward a few months and I was offered a nearly mint used Alvarez DOA Dreadnought for an amazingly good price by one of the music stores I shop at. It was a trade in and I just knew if I didn't jump on it, it wouldn't be there long. In spite of the fact that we had taken six months to shop for a guitar earlier in the year, I took a chance and picked it up for her.Anyhow, it looks great, sounds very balanced, and plays wonderfully. It is the ONLY acoustic guitar (and there have been many) where I didn't have to pay to have a luthier set it up properly - or at least how my daughter like it set up.My daughter has shown this to her two guitar teachers and to her guitar playing friends and the it has met with universal praise. There is nothing not to like about this guitar as a player's instrument. Personally, I wish the pick guard was different - say maybe a transparent one - but that is a small thing. BTW, the inlay work is quite well done for what is really a budget guitar and is nicely unstated.SO, don't fail to consider this guitar if you want something that looks great - and a bit different than run of the mill - and have several hundreds, not thousands, to spend I'd scoop one of these up in a second!

Best value out there!

By "Beach"

from virginia

I have been playing for many years, I have owned a couple of high dollar guitars but this Alvarez Koa is soooo sweet, its hard to believe the cost. Very low action, sweet sound, I am experimenting with strings, comes with Elixirs, but I am wondering what some other strings may sound like. Finish is beautiful, sound is a 10 although just a tiny bit softer than I would like, but for the money, the best guitar I have ever owned.

Awesome guitar...

An unbelievable value for the price...and stunning looks to boot! You can't find this deal anywhere else. I want to see martin or Taylor try to compete with the AD60K. Can't do it.

Amazing guitar

By Nate Claflin

from Roseville, CA

This is an incredibly smooth guitar, there is great smooth sound, and a great finish. I was a little scared having it shipped to me, but it was in perfect condition, and I have had it for about three months now, with absolutely no flaws. I have compared this guitar to a couple Martins, and this compares, or even exceeds their sound. There should be a "six star" rating for this guitar. I would recommend this to anyone.

SWEET Guitar

from Newfie living in Whitecourt, Alberta

This guitar is great. I use elixir strings and the action is great. The strings are very close to the fret wires making the guitar a dream to play and without buzzing. The preamp/pickup is amazing. Plugged into a big amp/PA, WOW, I was impressed. Crystal clear trebles and lots of bottom. As for the finish, it looks real good because it is different. It turns heads for sure. I use it for recording on my computer because it definitely meets my standards. A+++++++

Bad guitar

By Airshawn

from New York

First off, I love the looks of this guitar. It's not the same thing that you see everybody playing. It's a tough guitar, it won't dent or crack with any little bump, and it's got those little details like the mother of pearl on the fretboard and body, etc. It is a blast to play! I need a full, deep sound with plenty of volume, and I got it! Mine has a built in preamp and tuner which are extremely useful for live shows. If I could custom build my own acoustic according to my own preferences, it would be a lot like this one!

incredible! the ad60k is sweet

By ricky-0k40a

from florida

I have had this guitar for two years. For the money you can't find a better gem than this one. The midrange/treble is clean all the way up the neck. The bass is not too boomy and stays pretty clean when strummed heavy. A fast action neck also{my neck on the ad60k feels like a strat}. Get this guitar.

Great for beginners

By guitar lover

from Virginia Beach, VA

For a beginner guitar the Alvarez AD60K has great action and a beautiful sound. I used it as a beginner guitar, and this guitar will beat out any beginner guitar under 600 dollars.
