Comments about Washburn M6SW Jethro Burns F-Style Mandolin:
I've owned the M6 for two years, When I first bought the instrument, I was impressed with the cosmetics but not sold on the sound quality. After playing the mandolin for two years, I will say the sound quality is very good, a very nice chop, and mid and highrange balance. The only negatives I can mention are the thick polyurethane finish and the lack of boom projection. Both negatives are related. If this were a guitar with the same quality features, the all solid premium woods, carved spruce top, the AAA carved wood back and sides, eboney fret board. A critique would rave about the instrument, because the instrument is made with such quality materials, the snobs will DIS the mandolin because it is not a Gibson or Weber. This instrument will get much better with age and play. I really enjoy playing the mandolin. The mandolin is as high a quality instrument as manufacturers of instruments in the similar price range and has a better chop than many. Whether you are a seriuos amature musician or an eperienced musician this mandolin is worth the price. Always recommend that any mandolin, high end to low end, be set up by a professional.
