Washburn

A beautiful A-style mandolin, with some real power.

The Washburn M1SDL A-style mandolin offers a modern look and quality craftsmanship that has made Washburn a household name. The mandolin is built on the popular A-style platform—a classic acoustic folk design producing deep, powerful attack. It starts with a solid spruce top for warm, balanced tone right out of the box. The arched back and sides are maple, offering beauty and performance.

The bound rosewood fingerboard promotes warm sustain, while the A-style design and the oval soundhole produces and full tone and projection—ideal for soloing and rhythm in barn-burnin' bluegrass or folk settings. A striking white binding outlines the teardrop body and gold tuning machines offer precise tuning in a modern appearance. The Washburn M1SDL A-style mandolin comes out of the box ready to jam. Thanks to Washburn's careful handmade craftsmanship, this 8-string bluegrass standard will compliment any string band outfit, from parking lot jams to center stage. Case sold separately.

Mandolin M1SDL-A Style Mandolin

Comments about Washburn M1SDL A-Style Mandolin:

The mandolin arrived with tarnished strings and no setup. The bridge was in the box stilled wrapped up and the top of the mandolin has blemishes. I had to pay $35 dollars to have the string action and the bridge adjusted at a local music store. I did not send it back because I purchased a guitar there a few weeks before and had difficultly getting my money refunded when I sent it back. I will not be a returning customer. I could have bought a factory seconds mandolin and it would have been in better shape. I own several brand name mandolins and none of them came in like this. Buy somewhere else if you are smart.

Washburn Mandolin M1SDL A-Style

Comments about Washburn M1SDL A-Style Mandolin:

I tell you this. I would not recommend buying any instrument from Music123. They send the mandolin as is. No setup. The bridge is not even put in place. The strings were tarnished where it has been in their inventory for so long. The finish on the mandolin is not flawless. It has one spot on the top beside the pick guard that is definedly a manufacturer defectand is the first thing you see when you pick it up. I could have bought this mandolin from a factory seconds store at a better price and had it in better shape than this. I did not send it back because I bought a guitar from there and returned it. It took forever for me to get a refund. Wish I had not got the mandolin. So disappointed . Now I have to pay $30-$40 dollars to have it setup at a local music store. I have never had an instrument come in a box and the rest (the bridge, etc) wrapped up . I own four very nice mandolins so I am not a novice buyer. Never again.

Very pleased

Comments about Washburn M1SDL A-Style Mandolin:

I bought this to get back into mandolin. I played mandolin as a kid with my dad who played banjo, and I also played violin in orchestra and then bass in a booked rock band. I am very pleased with the quality of this Washburn. I bought the black one. The finish is pretty much flawless. Too bad they don't have a sunburst or natural, but the black is really cool. The binding looks nice as does the inlay on the headstock. There was a small crack in the finish at one tuner hole and one of the tuner rings wasn't seated all the way in. Not a big deal for me at this price. The action is slightly high at the bridge, but there is no fret buzz and I won't bother getting it set up as it plays ok. The neck is nice and straight. The intonation is good if not close to perfect especially on the A and E strings. The sound is clean with nice harmonic overtones on the two high strings. I wanted an oval sound hole if possible. The oval sound hole and the F style headstock and black finish give it a special look that is different from other entry mandos and that has really gown on me. The hard case for it is really nice. The only downside are probably the tuning machines. If the tuners were better this would be pretty hard to beat. I thought I'd get this and then upgrade, but now I suspect I'd have to spend quite a bit more money to get something much better. I'm very pleased with it.
