Comments about Rogue RM100F F-Style Mandolin:

I'm a guitarist and professional musical theatre actor, and needed to learn as much mandolin as possible asap for an audition. After some online searching this instrument has proven to be decent, inexpensive option for me to learn. My main complaint is that the tuning pegs were so stiff when I first re-strung it that they hardly turned at all. A couple weeks later, tho the pegs are easier to turn, it doesn't hold a tune particularly well. You'd never mistake this for a "finely-crafted" instrument. The overall finish is laid thin, but that may, in fact help the tone. If I book the gig, I'd sell this one and buy a superior instrument. But for now this is just fine. The included case may be worth more than the mandolin.

Not terrible.

Comments about Rogue RM100F F-Style Mandolin:

Needed a mando on short notice for a gig and didn't want to spend a lot for such limited use so I purchased this instrument. It sounds fine, but a couple of things: Maybe I like my action unusually low, but out of the box I found the action to be way too high. The bridge couldn't be adjusted low enough via the thumb screws so I actually had to remove and modify the bridge by filing about 3/16" from the areas that rest on the thumb screws. This is a fairly involved job and not something one would expect to have to do. Secondly, the tuners are ok, but some of them bind-up, making them difficult to turn. I will probably upgrade the tuners on this mando someday. After addressing these issues, I feel it is and will be a nice little entry-level instrument. All in all, not a bad investment at this price. Just expect to do some setup work if you are particular about how your instruments feel.

Great for the Beginner!

Comments about Rogue RM100F F-Style Mandolin:

The Rogue RM100F is a great mandolin for the beginner. It is my first mandolin and I started learning it the first day I received it. It is very pretty with good coloring and a good finish. I would recommend it. It has good sound quality, beautiful finish, and the case it comes in is very good. It looks like a travel bag on the outside, but the inside has a perfect fit space for the madolin and a nice sized opening that I use to hold my new Intellitouch PT2 Tuner (which I also purchased from Music123), my new suede strap, and my extra picks. It also feature two large zipper pockets on the front, which I put my learning books and DVD in. My experienced musician friends said the mandolin has a good sound and the case has a very good interior quality. It really protects the mandolin well.
