very good and solid mandolin
Comments about Ovation Celebrity DLX Mandolin:
I bought this mandolin for a few months now. Due to the fixed bridge, I cannot adjust the intonation and string height myself as I normally do with other mandolins I owned previously to save money and having the fun doing the setup work.
I brought it to a luthier for a full setup. Afterward, the mandolin plays and sounds like a dream. Very easy on my fingers, the sound is sweet to my ears. When plugged in, it beats up all other acoustic/electric mandolins I owned previously (and sold after purchasing this one). The built-in pickup and preamp are the best, no noise, no humming, just music.
This mandolin is very different from the usual A and F style mandolins, it weights 3 or 4 times more due to its sturdy construction. Even an Ovation a few years old still look like brand new once you put new strings on it. This is MY TRAVEL mandolin, going with me on every trips (business, vacations).
It stays in tune much better than the traditional one. I only have to tune it twice a week (playing about 2 hours a day). Most other mando requires tuning daily (not because they are bad, it has to do with the wood expanding / contracting due to temperature and humidity). The Ovation is much less senstive to the climate around it.
Caution: this mandolin is NOT for bluegrass music.

Love this Mandolin!
Comments about Ovation Celebrity DLX Mandolin:
I have had this mandolin fro several years. My other is a pot belly from the 1920's, but this is the one I play most often. It has great sound, feels good, and looks terrific. I play guitar, banjo, uke and this. Because I like this so much, I bought the Applause Uke.
