and I wanted to get a uke nice enough that I wouldn't immediately want another. Great sound and it is GORGEOUS. It will be awhile before I feel a need to upgrade. I am very happy.

I played a friend's Lanikai CK-C concert ukulele and was impressed with the way it was made and the quality of the tone. Being a guitar player, I really appreciated how much easier it was to feel comfortable on the concert uke's slightly longer scale while it retains the traditional tuning of a tiny soprano uke. This is the ideal instrument for a guitar player who wants an entry-level uke or a decent-sounding instrument that doesn't cost a small fortune. Plus, it's fun! The only reason I'm not giving this instrument five stars is because they're apparently not 100% consistent in their features. My friend's uke (ordered one month before mine) had good quality but plain-looking woods on the body, simple dot fingerboard inlays, and larger tuning keys. When my uke was delivered, despite identical labels inside the soundhole, it had beautifully figured koa on both the top and back, more compact tuning keys (better balance between headstock and body), and fancier split oval fingerboard inlays. Our ukes play and sound virtually the same but the one I received is definitely more attractive. Caveat emptor: If you order one, it may not look exactly like the unit depicted here but you're likely to get a very usable instrument at a good price.
