The harmonica equivalent of a 12-string guitar!

This is a harmonica with octave tuning (the upper row of 20 holes is tuned one octave below the lower row of 20). When the 2 rows are played at the same time this creates an effect of 2 harmonicas simultaneously playing the same melody. This enables a single player to achieve a stronger, full-bodied sound not possible while playing a standard diatonic.

Echo harmonicas offer comfortable curved mouthpieces with traditional wood combs. The chrome-plated covers have turned-in ends for extra style and sound. Key of C.

Features

  • 40 holes (2 rows of 20)
  • Each upper row hole is tuned an octave below each hole in the lower row
  • Achieves a stronger, full-bodied sound
  • Curved mouthpieces
  • Traditional wood comb
  • Chromeplated covers with turned ends
  • Diatonic
  • Key of C

Excellent piece, takes practice

Comments about Hohner 1495/40 Echo Harmonica:

Excellent harp and very beautiful. It is only logical to assume that a 40-reed harp has to be a bit oversized to accomodate 40 holes. If you play guitar and harp at same time, make sure your headpiece is wide enough. If you are used to playing a 10-reed harp, as I was, then it will seem a bit difficult to play. Not to let that discourage you, but it is very different than a 10-reed.

Mistake

Comments about Hohner 1495/40 Echo Harmonica:

It is huge and we did not notice anything in the description that about the size of this harmonica. It is a beautiful piece but we took it out of the box and instantly knew it was too big - not what we thought we were getting.
