Comments about Gibson F-5G Mandolin:

I've had my F5G for a couple of years now and I love it more every time I pick it up. These are without a doubt the best value Gibson has. The F5G features the same construction specs as an F5L (or "fern"), it's just dressed down which to many folks (including myself) prefer and you get to save $$$. I've played several higher end Gibson F5L's and artist signature models and even mandolins from private builders and haven't found one yet to come up to my F5G. Versatile describes it best. A loud, woofy chop, a sweet mellow tone when playing softly, or a loud, cut through the mix tone when doing some serious picking. Take my word, if you're looking for a professional quality mandolin that won't break the bank, this is the way to go. Buy it, you won't regret it.
