A traditional sound with a modern flair designed by Robert Schmidt
Robert Schmidt, mandolin player extraordinaire, of the Irish-American Celtic punk band Flogging Molly has exclusively designed his own Fender Electric Mandolin. Based on the FM62 E Fender Mandolin from years past, Robert designed this beauty to sound great and to take a beating but make no mistake this mandolin is a beauty to look at with its dark walnut stain spruce top and carved maple back and sides, bronze cast chrome tailpiece, chrome dome-style volume knob, ebony bridge and rosewood fretboard.

Comments about Fender Robert Schmidt Mandolin:
I read the other review and feel bad that they had such a bad experience...but it sounds like a question of manufacturing and not because of the design. I picked mine up a few months ago and have loved everything about it. I had been searching for something outside of the traditional teardrop shape and loved the style of this one. While I had heard of Flogging Molly I wasn't all that familiar- but Robert Schmidt has become a new hero of mine based on the his mandolin. It is a fine looking instrument with great action, solid pick up, great tone and is very durable. I am stoked. I plan to order a second one soon because when I have finally trashed this one in a few years time I want to make sure I have a back up. Well done Fender!
Bottom Line Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

Comments about Fender Robert Schmidt Mandolin:
I bought this for my wife for her birthday, put the order in the first week of April - it arrived in the THIRD WEEK OF NOVEMBER, seven and a half MONTHS after I ordered it. She was grateful to have gotten it at all; but when we tuned it up, the action was too close at the first fret and way to far at the last. We took it in to a well-respected guitar and mandolin shop to see if something needed to be adjusted. The technician took one look at it and said, "The neck is warped. Send it back." So yesterday I packed it up and sent it back. Music123 said there are four more in stock, so we'll try for a replacement, but at this point I'm not getting my hopes up. What a disappointment.
Bottom Line No, I would not recommend this to a friend
