Dark and brilliant sounds coexist within the K Custom Hybrid!
The K Custom Hybrid series is another innovative and musical line developed in conjunction with Akira Jimbo, a leading drum stylist. The Hybrids combine the unlathed, brilliant finish of the K Custom Ride on the inner half with the traditionally finished K Zildjian lathing on the outer half of the cymbal. This results in the possibility of two different sound dynamics depending where the cymbal is played. Additionally, the unlathed section helps to control the wash and sustain, rendering them ideal for recording and live situations.
The 20" Ride combines the defined stick attack and strong bell sound of the K Custom Ride with the crash-ability and increased spread of a thinner, lathed cymbal. It provides a unique musical statement that will challenge and inspire your artistic expressions.
Akira said, "Maximum versatility is the main idea with the Hybrid series. I worked with Zildjian to design a line of cymbals where brilliance and darkness co-exist. I think the sound we came up with sets the new standard for the 21st Century."

Nice ride
Comments about Zildjian K Custom Hybrid Ride:
I have had many cymbals over the years (25+ drumming) Paiste, Sabian, Zildjian, but I'm kinda partial to Zildjians. I have 4 K series including the 20" Hybrid Ride. I especially like the two tone texture; hand hammered with the lathed outer edge(4-6") and the brilliant finished center zone with the bell also hand hammered. The outer edge has the typical ride ping with nice overtones not too overpowering or washy, but just right ( for me ). The inner section has a crisper more pronounced ping with less overtones and more stick definition and the bell has a nice powerful tone with a clear and loud projection. K Zildjian's are expensive but I like em, they're worth it. But listen for yourself before you buy, not sound bytes go to a store and hear the real deal ! You'll decide like I did, that you have to have it ! Then buy it here for the best deal !

Very nice ride!!!
Comments about Zildjian K Custom Hybrid Ride:
I bought this cymbal a week ago and thought it was astounding! It was somewhat dark and bright at the same time!! Very awesome ride cymbal! Also, it can be crashed in a way to make it sound even more versitile. The bell is very clean, and not very pangy. Overall, an AWESOME cymbal. I recommend it for intermediate players and above. Beginners shouldn't have such a weapon! :)

Best "live" ride cymbal I've heard in years!
Comments about Zildjian K Custom Hybrid Ride:
I heard the K Zildjian Hybrid Custom ride in action while playing a show with Linda Rondstadt and her band. The Hybrid ride caught my attention immediately. It had great definition, but not too overpowering. The stick sound had a slight shimmer to it, which I really enjoyed. At all dynamic levels, with stick or brushes, it fit the various styles perfectly. It sounds like what I would want a ride cymbal to sound like, and it is certainly the best "live" ride cymbal I've heard in years!
