Zildjian

Professional cymbal with multiple tonal options.

Developed in conjunction with leading drum stylist Akira Jimbo, the Zildjian K Kustom Hybrid Crash cymbal features an innovative brilliant/traditional surface that produces different tones depending on where the cymbal is played for a musical "darkness with brilliance" combination. The inner half features the unlathed, brilliant finish of the K Custom Ride, while the outer half features the traditionally finished K Zildjian lathing. The unlathed section helps control the wash and sustain, making it ideal for recording and live situations.

The relatively thin design of the crash results in a very responsive quality. It opens up quickly but still has the ability to project loudly and cut into dense mixes due to the unlathed bell.

"Maximum versatility is the main idea with the Hybrid series. I worked with Zildjian to design a line of cymbals where brilliance and darkness coexist. I think the sound we came up with sets the new standard for the 21st Century."--Akira Jimbo

great cymbals

Comments about Zildjian K Custom Hybrid Crash:

I truely believe these are the best cymbals in this price range. I played Zildjian "A's" ,
"A customs", "K Custom Sessions" and a host of Sabian & Paiste's, making everyone
in the store crazy, clerks and customers. Before chunkin down my money I have to be
sure of what I'm getting ; a smooth glassy shimmer when lightly tapped and a nice dark
explosion when hit aggressively. These are my 2 main crashes a 16" and 17", also I have
a Sabian AAX 18" Dark crash, AAX 19" Studio crash, and a K Custom Dark 18". They are
set up in the order they are listed above and get progressively darker in tone with longer decay
as you go down the line and they all mix brilliantly together along with a 20" K Hybrid ride and
a 14" Wuhan china. That's it ! Rock on !!

hybrids rock !

Comments about Zildjian K Custom Hybrid Crash:

I have the 16" & 17" K custom hybrids and they are awesome,They are two tone as it were, with a hand hammered texture that is machine lathed on the outer 3-4" and a smooth brilliant finish on the inner section including the bell (also hand hammered). They have a glassy shimmer when hit lightly and explode with power when hit hard. They are my 2 main crashes along with an 18" K custom Dark crash these all create a wonderful musical balance; light & airy with plenty of punch for the hard stuff like Led Zepplin, Black Sabbath, Deep Purple, Bad Co. etc... I play a lot of classic rock and blues and they perform well for both genres. K Zildjians are expensive! but "you get what you pay for" when it comes to brass for your kit. Don't waste your time with sound clips. you need to play them first hand; tap them, smack them, hit em hard ! that's when you get the feel and nuance of the cymbals you are about to invest in, and make no mistake these are an investment -- in yourself !! Choose wisely. I also have a couple of Sabian AAX's in the mix, an 18" dark crash and a 19" studio crash; and they mix very well with the K series. That's it !! Rock On !!
