Zildjian

All-purpose ride with medium overtones.

The A Series Zildjian is the world's most popular and versatile cymbal. Created from cast bronze alloy of 80% copper, 20% tin, and traces of silver, it is symmetrically machine hammered and lathed with a traditional wide groove. The result is an exuberant cymbal that bursts with a classic voice that is pure, bright, and expressive.

If you're like me and your ride doubles as a crash, then I highly recommend this cymbal. This cymbal is very dynamic. I've had jazz drummers use my kit in that context and it was gorgeous....I'm a rock drummer who goes from playing delicately to all out bashing and it performs wonderfully under all circumstances. My only guff is that you have to really smack the bell with the shoulder of your stick to get in to cut through loud guitars, but that's it.

I got this cymbal because of its excellent crash properties because I play in a punk band. But the ride is just to washy, I can't get enough volume or a defined ping out of the ride and it just doesn't do what I want. I now own an A Custom Projection Ride and use the sweet strictly as a crash. I would also recommend the Zildjian Avedis Crash/Ride to anyone looking to crash the sweet ride. It has better crash properties and the ride is just a little darker.

Crashable, All Purpose Ride

By David Robertson

from Motor City, Michigan, USA

Comments about Zildjian A Series Sweet Ride Cymbal:

I bought the Zildjian 21 inch Sweet Ride in 2002 to be an all-purpose ride. I wanted a ride that could hold up during live sets covering a variety of musical styles, classic rock to alternative to jazz to Motown to contemporary pop and back again. It had to sound great used with a range of sticks, brushes, and rods. This ride does all of that for me. (Plus it has a great and huge crash sound.) While I am not a fan of the Zildjian "A Series" in general, I do love the 21 inch A Series Sweet Ride. After all these years, I still recommend the Sweet Ride as an all purpose ride. This is a good choice for the drummer who needs a pro level ride and they don't exactly know what to choose. Start here. You can use this ride until you become vintage!

Very versatile ride

By Eric-apjrL

Comments about Zildjian A Series Sweet Ride Cymbal:

This has been my main ride for at least 8 years now, and it has served me incredibly well. I have used this ride with jazz trios in a small club, as well as alt/rock groups in larger venues. It has a great blend of attack and wash, and a really nice bell tone. Gentle sticking has great attack and clear stick-definition, and when you really start to wail on it, it functions almost as a really beefy crash (think Travis Barker in early Blink 182 stuff). This crash effect can really fill in the sound when the band is wailing, but you do lose some stick-definition, which is my only complaint about this cymbal. If you're looking for a one-shot, all-purpose ride, this is probably the closest thing you'll find.

Lives up to its name.......

By Alex-qG1EV

Comments about Zildjian A Series Sweet Ride Cymbal:

The Sweet ride is, in all other words, sweet. It is the best sounding, most versatile ride I have ever played on. I bought mine from WWBW about a year ago, and it has never failed me. It has a great, attacking, yet mellow crash, and the ride cuts through our 2 Marshall stacks with no problem. I play with only 2 other crashes because of the sweet, it doubles extremely well as a crash. Makes great background noise when crashing, yet it doesn't cover up the beat.

Travis uses this?

Comments about Zildjian A Series Sweet Ride Cymbal:

First of all I didn't know Travis Barker uses this ride. I didn't do research or nothing when I bought this ride. And I don't care if he uses it, I still don't know why everyone's hating on him. lol. He's still a good drummer. Nonetheless, I still think this is a very good ride for what's it's worth, I like how low the bell is, just enough for more delicate style of playing, but still has a great crash for harder stuff. It has a really good sound from what I can tell, and it really doesn't cost that much for what it's worth. I like Zildjian cymbals. This is my only second ride cymbal, I think I'm going to by some K customs next time. Get this ride, I'm sure more than likely you'll like it.

Rad Cymbal

By dmdrummer91

Comments about Zildjian A Series Sweet Ride Cymbal:

I play in a Punk/alternative band and this cymbal has the right amount of ping, right amount of wash, and a great bell sound. I mean I can play near the bell and have a nice ping or play near the edge and have not as much ping and more wash. Bottem line is THIS CYMBAL IS RAD.

Comments about Zildjian A Series Sweet Ride Cymbal:

This ride is sick...I suggest to anyone who does a lot of punk music to invest in this ride cymbal. I have no regrets. The bell on the ride sounds incredible. All in all it was a great investment!

good ride, not great

By Jon-cpdBG

from Virginia

Comments about Zildjian A Series Sweet Ride Cymbal:

The ride sound on mine is outstanding but the bell is weak. Maybe I was expecting too much but the bell tone doesn't cut the way I like and it is tempermental regarding where you strike it. If you are off even a bit you don't get a nice tone. The ride tone is the redeeming quality and is the best I've ever heard. It also makes a good crash.

Good Ride

By Marc O'Broin

from Los Angels

Comments about Zildjian A Series Sweet Ride Cymbal:

I love this ride I've been using it since like 95 and its awesome. I hate how people just get it because Travis Barker uses it. He's good but not everyone should try to be like him.
