When I first started playing, I played rock, and pretty much only rock. Eventually, I got this ride and it was great...for rock. I then started getting into jazz and fusion and it just doesn't get the job done. Its not articulate enough and that build up of ping in the background just is not good for rhythm of jazz, blues, and even fusion. Great rock ride though.

I own the 20-inch version of this cymbal. It is an ok all round ride, but I certainly don't think it is that articulate. It definitely has a lot of build-up. I really don't like this ride. I cant wait to upgrade to a Paiste 22-inch dry heavy ride or signature 22-inch Mega ride.

22 inch ping ride

By BarryF

from Springfield, OR

Comments about Zildjian A Series Ping Ride Cymbal:

This cymbal has a nice clear ping sound. It goes well with my other A Series Ziljians I use. I especially like the jazz sound you get from this, which is mainly why I purchased it.

Great Sound - lots of over tones

By eric-Zn2ry

from new york

Comments about Zildjian A Series Ping Ride Cymbal:

I have the 20inch ping ride, and it sounds great live and recorded. However, I found the build up of tone and ring to be a bit much. I put two pieces of duct tape, about 4 inches long, on the bottom, and that solved the problem. I am now very happy with it, and I can still do some crashes on it from time to time if I need a heavy accent.

This cymbal rocks!!!

By Tom Bower

from Cambridge England

Comments about Zildjian A Series Ping Ride Cymbal:

This cymbal is amazing. This cymbal is an allrounder but for me sounds best in rock. The bell is short, sharp and high piched. The ride is very controlled and a joy to play on. I have used this cymbal in a recording and it sounds amazing it really cuts through. Just listen to velvet revolver and you will see what i mean.BUY THIS CYMBAL NOW!!!

Awesome Ride

By John-rs5bs

from Kentucky

Comments about Zildjian A Series Ping Ride Cymbal:

This has a very nice bell sound that will cut though. The 22" sounds great for jazz, and rock. The only problem is the overtone, make sure you don't hit it on the side or it might ring forever.

Very nice rock cymbal

By Ben--p_fC

from Cleveland, OH

Comments about Zildjian A Series Ping Ride Cymbal:

I have a 22", and I've found it to be excellent for rock. It's loud enough to cut through the band, but still gets good stick definition. I've also tried it in jazz, but I wouldn't recommend it unless you need a really loud, bright ride. Good ride all around.

If it's good enough for Neil Peart..

By Alan L.-NlHnZ

from Durham, NC

Comments about Zildjian A Series Ping Ride Cymbal:

I have always loved the sound of Neil Peart's ride and I finally have it. I even got it in Brilliant finish-looks great! Great sounding cymbal. Clear ping sound and a bell that cuts through any wall of sound. I have found it good for most styles of music but a little too much sustain for light jazz.

Awesome Ride

By Tim-kizYs

from Boone, NC

Comments about Zildjian A Series Ping Ride Cymbal:

This ride is the best ride I have ever played or heard. It has a very clear "Ping" sound. The bell is killer. It cuts through all the music. If you hit this ride near the edge you get a controlled wash sound. The higher up you get the more "Ping" sound is projected. Great for Rock. I would recommend this ride to anyone.

Super tight cymbal

By Bob-TvT-Q

from Laurel MD, USA

Comments about Zildjian A Series Ping Ride Cymbal:

Excellent for both live and recording. Very articulate, controlled stick sound. You can get some wash if you want on the edge but it is nicely understated/balanced with the ping. Strong and musical ping and great stick rebound near the bell. Bell sound is nice and crisp; very clear. Zildjian rules!
