Comments about Zildjian A Series Medium Ride:
I had only been playing drums for 3 months and was always asked by other drummers, "What ride do you play on?". My response was always, "What's a ride?"
Not having any experience with cymbals other than the cheap cymbals that came with my 5 piece kit, I bought a 20" A Medium Ride (already old) 18 years ago from another drummer. I've never owned another ride to this day. I've played everything from Hard Rock to Country and this thing has never let me down. If there was ever any sonic element of complaint, I would like a tad bit more stick definition and a little less wash. There are no complaints about the bell, it's loud and cuts through 4x12 stacks with ease.
I've always flirted with buying a new ride and have listened to new 20" and 22" A Medium Rides along with A Customs and other brands as well. I'm not sure if it's the age, oxidation, or what...but nothing sounds as good as my old crusty 20" A Medium Ride. The only ride I've ever owned.

While not as great as the older versions, the Zildjian Medium ride is a great, affordable cymbal to have. The bell is great and loud if you want it to be and soft for those fun grooves. Nice definition and wash in the ride. Trust me it sounds better as you get farther away from the kit so the audience hears a different sound than you do (a much nicer one). This cymbal can project quite well if you need it to. The sound really doesn't go one way or another, it truly is a MEDIUM ride. I sat down and played just about every style of pattern for all kinds of music and it sounds good in all of them. This is one of those cymbals that will give you the 4/5 stars as it's not beautiful, but really good. (The price isn't bad either.)
