I have owned these for many years, and never considered a different pair. Very bright and musical. They cut through the mix but never sound harsh. They are thinner than most hats, with slightly less volume. They will work great with rock/pop, funk, jazz, latin, acoustic and recording. They would not be a good choice for hard rock/heavy metal, not loud and cutting enough. Great sounding chick.

It has been my experience that these hi hats sound better with age, and being played by themselves does not do this set justice. The sound's much better in a live situation with other instruments blending with them. Overall, these are the best hi hats I've ever heard and used in live situations. Highly recommended!
