When I play out, I often use a chrome over brass Ludwig Supraphonic snare. While the drum is great for rocking music, it doesn't give me the cross-stick rim clicks with the right volume or character for some of the mellower songs we perform. Putting a Groove Wedge on the drum solved that problem and gave the cross-stick both volume and a warm, woody character. I'm going to try them on a maple snare next!

I like this product, I also use it on my 10" and 12" inch snare drums. Small snare usually have a terrible sound on cross-sticking so this is a great solution. However, for the money I was wishing it would be a little bit louder and a little bit more silky sounding. It gives a good cross stick sound, but if they had made a small air space in the center, between the plies it would have been a touch like a wood block- more projection maybe? If you have a 14" snare I would say don`t bother. If you use a 12" or such size then I would say it`s really useful.

You should really give this a try. It's really cool. I am attached it to my snare last night and it's sounds so awesome. My husband, whose also a drummer, was like what's THAT? He's jealous now & he wants one. Looks like that's I'll be ordering another right away.

I recently added this wedge to my kit to get a better cross stick effect for my bluegrass gigs. However, I also decided to use on a rock recording for a friend and was blown away! You can even get a great sound using the Easten Ahead sticks on it! I then tried it on a jazz recording and it came through shining again! A must have! Trust me, it will make your job of projecting cross stick a lot easier.

It's really a great product. It delivers that nice cross-stick sound. I use it with my 10" Yamaha to make up for its small size. It creates so many sounds. It is incredible. A must have! You'll never regret it.
