Total portability and great drum sounds.
The drummer-friendly and stylish design of the Yamaha DD-65 drum machine marks a transition to a more professional and versatile digital-drumming instrument.
It features an aux in jack that lets you connect an MP3 player and play along with your favorite music, or load MIDI songs from the internet into the internal Flash ROM memory and play along. Stereo-sampled voices, a wide variety of percussion sounds from all over the world, a bass boost speaker system, and digital stereo processing give the Yamaha DD-65 an irresistible, thundering beat.
The drum machine's control panel includes intuitive features that are easy to operate. For example, select the Hand Percussion mode and the digital drum kit automatically switches to percussion voices like congas and bongos. With its powerful features, this drum machine is no toy.
Operates on six "C"-size batteries or Yamaha PA150 or PA5D power adapter. See survival kit C (#701588)

Comments about Yamaha DD-65 Digital Drums:
I got these as a gift over a year ago. At first I just used them with the built in sounds and used the included tunes to play along to. I really enjoyed having a drumset I could use with headphones. The included plastic bass drum and hat pedals are a little tedious, but as expected.
The issue I have had with this product was when I tried using it as a midi controller in Reaper using various sampled drum sounds. The DD65 allows you to program each pad with midi notes, numbers, but the high hat pedal effectively does not work. You can only program one note into the hat pad, either open or closed, and pressing the pedal 2 does nothing. I tried with several different drumsets, in different programs, such as toontracks EZ drummer, and more than a couple sets in Kontakt. I thought maybe I just was missing something, so I began looking online for what that may be.
I soon found out that it was an issue with the product itself and that it had to be fixed by Yamaha. So, I can't comment on how the fix works yet. Just be aware that this is an issue and if you are wanting it specifically for triggering drum sounds, you may want to reconsider, or at least find out for sure if it has the latest tweak in programming. Now, if you just want to use the built in sounds, perfect, go for it, it rocks.
I would suggest upgrading the kick pedal and hat pedal, and I intend in doing that if the glitch is fixed when it returns. Then it will be a great sounding, great playing very portable, rocking e drumset, that takes up very little space compared to my acoustic kit.
Kudos to Yamaha for providing the fix on the problem.
