You'll never go back to regular wing nuts again!

A cool-looking, convenient, and time-saving method for securing cymbals to stands. Unlike the traditional wing nut, the Slick Nut doesn't need to be threaded on or off and won't loosen or fall off while you play. Simply hold in the fastening button, put Slick Nut on the cymbal stand, and release the button. It can also be used as a theft deterrent by tightening the hex set screw on the side of the body. This makes the Slicknut nonremovable, a great feature for drummers who have to leave their drum kits in clubs overnight. The Slick Nut fits stands with 8mm threads and has a cymbal felt attached. Hex key and replacement felt included.

Vater Slick Nut Quick-Release Review

By John McCune

Comments about Vater Slick Nut Quick-Release Cymbal Fastener:

Try just one and you will change out your entire cymbal stands wing-nuts for Vater Slick Nut Quick-Release. My first thought was it would speed up the setup and breakdown process; which it certainly does. However, the Vater Slick Nut Quick-Release also allows adjustment flexibility that stays in place for the duration of your performance. You can infinitely adjust how much you lockdown your cymbals. So if you want to lockdown a china type, it stays locked and if you want a crash to breathe you can certainly keep Vater Slick Nut Quick-Release loosely attached. Usually with wing-nuts youll see it go flying off during your performance. The Vater Slick Nut Quick-Release is bigger than a wing-nut and inheritably is easier to find when dropped, trying to find a dropped wing-nut on a dark stage is never fun; ask drummer of drum tech. I must say, I wont ever go back to wing-nuts on my cymbal stand, Vater has done an outstanding job creating this small but very useful piece of hardware know as Vater Slick Nut Quick-Release.

Drum set up and tear down time saver!

Comments about Vater Slick Nut Quick-Release Cymbal Fastener:

I love the Slick Nut Quick-Release Cymbal Fasteners. They make setting up and tearing down the drum kit much easier. Also, you don't end up hunting for cymbal wing nuts at the most inconvenient moments. I love that you can adjust the amount of tension on the fasteners from loose to locked! I have used Slick Nut Quick-Release Cymbal Fasteners for years and wouldn't want to use any other brand's fasteners. I would highly recommend them to everyone! In fact, when I buy new cymbal holders, I end up removing the cymbal fasteners that my favorite drum company has designed and replace them immediately with Slick Nut Quick-Release Cymbal Fasteners. They look great too!

speed up your setup for a price.

Comments about Vater Slick Nut Quick-Release Cymbal Fastener:

My Bassist bought me 3 of these for my kit because they were cheap and it was my birthday. it was sort of a novelty buy. To tell the truth, they do exactly what they say they will do. You can push the button in, slide the whole piece down onto your threads as far as you want/can, and let go, and it holds it's place. Then, when you want to take it off, hold the button in again, and pull it off. Simple. But prone to problems... For example...

There's a small allen key bolt that allows you to tighten the holder onto the stand. But the bolt doesn't really stay stationary when it ISN'T screwed in tight, I've had multiple instances of finding that the bolt has come partially unthreaded from the fastener and is hanging halfway out, and also, once or twice, it threaded the rest of the way in from all the banging, and then I couldn't get it off the cymbal stand until I got it back home where I had an allen wrench.

Also, if you don't use that bolt to tighten them on the stand, if you play really hard, the cymbal fastener will get pushed farther up the threads by the cymbals, especially if you're hitting the cymbal in such a way that it swings up and down alot.

overall, not a very useful tool unless you gig ALL the time.

Comments about Vater Slick Nut Quick-Release Cymbal Fastener:

They rock. Functionally, they save you from having to do the twist-n'-flick method to get the wing nut off of your cymbal stand. They are a good idea if you have a drum kit that isn't in a secure area, as you can actually tighten them so they won't come off, but it's not actually screwing into the cymbal bolt, it's tightening the entire device onto the stand like a vice, so no damage is done. You have to crank them REALLY tight to make them really impossible to get off. Other than that, yes is my answer.

I'll never go back to wing nuts again

By kahuna244

Comments about Vater Slick Nut Quick-Release Cymbal Fastener:

Why all active working drummers aren't using these is a mystery to me. I'm hoping they're just too busy to have heard about them. They look pro - they work and do not strip threads if that's of any concern - like you'll ever go back to wing nuts ever again! They can be adjusted for varying swing preferences and are built tough. Use the provided felts or use your own. Best of all of course is the ease of setting up and breaking down - and if you happen to drop one you can find it rather quickly! The only con is on some China cymbals they're too big to fit in the bell - for that I use plastic sleeved wing nuts. 4 stars ONLY because I believe they could be made a bit slimmer for all China cymbals and still do the job.
