If you own a first or possibly second-generation Iron Cobra pedal, this beater might not fit. I tried to replace my old CB90 beater with one of the new two-sided beaters and to my surprise, the beater shaft would not fit into the beater cam receptacle! I went back to my local store to exchange it for the regular CB90 and immediately noticed that the new CB90 beaters have a completely round shaft. The old beaters had a flat side to it and those are the only beaters that will fit the older Iron Cobra pedals. My salesperson called Tama and the rep verified with the factory that this is indeed the case.
So if you need to replace the beater head, just order the head. Yes, it's only $2.00 less that the entire beater, but you don't have any choice unless you update your pedals.

The pedal beaters arrived in a timely manner, but almost as soon as I put them on and starting playing the wooden piece popped off one of the beaters. This was rather frustrating at first since I really wanted to play with them, but instead of spending the time and money to return them I decided to use epoxy and glue it back on. They work great now, but initially they were not so great.

My Sonic Hammers went rusty after 6 months (like some other parts of the Axis AL-2 Longboard pedals) and the rubber patch you stick on the beater is not sticking anymore. So I bought 2 Tama CB90 and wow! that's a lot better! I liked of you can set the Sonic Hammers (rotate them can be very close from each other) but the feeling was weird. Imho those beaters definitely improve my AL-2 pedals. That's also the choice of George Kollias and I can understand why. Used with Remo Falam Slam patches on Roland PD8 mesh pad, that's the perfect combo for me.

Bought two wood head beaters. The first one came off only after a few hours of rehearsal. Thank God it wasn't live on stage!!! I use an impact disc so it didn't damage my bass drum head. I glued it back together with Gorilla glue and it hasn't come off again. I haven't used the other beater yet. This has been a frequent problem and TAMA hasn't fixed it...which I'm very surprised. I 've used TAMA hardware for over 25 years. I'm using a Danmark red wood beater that I've had for over 30 years with a Cobra Rolling Glide double pedal. Good sound and the head hasn't come off.
