Comments about Simmons SD7PK Electronic Drum Set:
This is a solid kit, with a sturdy rack and durable rubber pads that have plenty of bounce. The variety of individual sounds is solid, but keep in mind there are a lot of effect sounds that you may find yourself not using if you're looking for an acoustic kit sound. However, the module does let you change the individual output, pitch, pan, and sensitivity of the sounds for each pad. The snare's dual-zone pad is nice, but I find that the other pads actually have better sensitivity, even with that setting set all the way up. Because of that, playing drags, double-stroke rolls, or blast beats means that sometimes the pad may not register each hit. The hi-hat control pedal's feel is a bit unrealistic, but still pretty smooth. Cymbal pads are solid as well, and the bass drum pad accomodates a double-pedal nicely, as long as you place each beater the same distance from the center of the pad when they hit. Also, the bass drum pad is too sensitive, sometimes registering a double-hit (especially if you play heel-up), but this can be fixed by adjusting the sensitivity. In conclusion, a solid practice kit, but you may want to look elsewhere if you're looking for a kit to use for gigging or recording.
