Comments about Simmons SD Series Kick Pad:

One day my original SD5K kick just up and died and this was what I found to replace it. This needs replacing.
Don't get me wrong, I hooked it up and it makes a sound, just not a very loud sound. Even on 31, I can barely hear the thing.
One of it's supposed pros is that it's wide enough to accommodate double pedals and that it does. Problem is, if you intend to play thrash riffs, forget about it, the hardware just isn't quick enough to keep up. SLOW rolls, maybe. Charlie Benante? No way.
But the biggest problem is the overall design of the base, it's horrible. The biggest design flaw is that instead of anchor pins at the front to use for mounting, they put on 2 tiny rubber stoppers that don't stop anything. So inevitably you end up pushing it away from you as you play. Hopefully I will be able to drill wider holes and recycle the pins from the old unit onto this one (hopefully).
Some common sense flaws that make one wonder how it gets past quality control at Simmons.
