Sabian 12012XEB HHX 20 inch Evolution Ride
Hand crafted from SABIAN's premium B20 bronze
HHX Evolution is hand crafted from SABIAN's premium B20 bronze, the most durable and musical metal used in cymbal making. They are protected by a special SABIAN two-year warranty.Expanding the award-winning HHX
SABIAN Ltd. is pleased to introduce HHX Evolution, a range of drumset cymbals inspired by and collaborated on with SABIAN endorser Dave Weckl. Featuring the jumbo hammering; lathed surface; and raw, unlathed bell that contribute so greatly to the HHX concept of 'Tone Projection' - a combination of traditional tone and modern projection - Evolution models were created around Weckl's desire for his cymbal playing to 'follow the path of least resistance'. These Evolution models, with their glossy Brilliant Finish, respond to the slightest touch, making them extremely easy to play. An innovative 'Total Response' feature has been designed into HHX Evolution to boost its sensitivity and eliminate the need for players to 'dig' the sound out of the cymbal. What Dave was looking for
Commented Weckl "HHX is the essence of what I was looking for. It has that warm tone I like so much, but it also has brightness in its high end. For me it's very important to have the right mix - a balance of both. And that's what Evolution is all about. It retains the low end, we've brightened the highs, and we've increased the sensitivity so that the lightest touch of a stick sets it off. But it's not just a matter of being responsive, Evolution puts out its total sound at all times; even at very low levels. That's what I was looking for: cymbals that offered the path of least resistance, so I could focus on what I wanted to play, not how I was going to have to play it.

New Sabian Player

By

from yucca valley, ca

Comments about Sabian HHX Evolution Series Ride:

I've always played Zildjian.. but I crashed this ride at my local GC and quickly realized that it was the most amazing crash I've ever heard.. dark, shimmering, brilliant, and most musical! Needless to say I now own one.. and you should too if your music can benefit from a really good (and loud) crash. The "ride" aspect of the cymbal is good to. Kind of unique.

Great Ping!

By

from Monroe, NC

Comments about Sabian HHX Evolution Series Ride:

This ride has a very defined ping, but a lot of wash behind it as well. Great for fusion, but I could definately see it used in some heavier styles of rock. The bell of the ride is unlathed and cuts through the mix with a piercing but at the same time beautiful ping. One of the best features of this ride is it crashability. I am currently using this ride cymbal as my main crash and it is performing the duties very well. If you play with heavy sticks, such as 2B this cymbal can get away from you though, in the sense that the ping will stop and all you and the audience will hear is wash, but this is not a bad thing in my opinion. In rock sometimes you need that wall of sound and this cymbal is your ticket! It is well worth the price, just choose wisely because if you want something with little to no wash this ride is not for you. Sabian spared no expense in designing this ride and you will be able to tell the second you set this thing up!

Perfect cymbal

By

from St.Louis

Comments about Sabian HHX Evolution Series Ride:

I was giving up bass and getting more serious about drums so I took my bass down to my local music store (Mojo's Music) and traded it in on this ride. Man, it surprised me. I was going to try to get a more jazzy feel of the drums, but when I crashed this thing , I knew it could be used for rock. It has really nice stick tones if you use nylon tips rather than wood tips. The bell is just loud enough and this pushes through over a Fender Stage 1600, a Fender Twin, and a 100 watt Fender Rumble bass amplifier. It would really be a good purchase for a rock/indie/jazz musician. I'm behind Zildjian rides and all for Sabian now.

The Best Ride I ever played on.

By

from Columbia/Charleston, SC USA

Comments about Sabian HHX Evolution Series Ride:

I purchased this ride a few weeks ago to compliment a 4 piece custom Ludwig set I recently bought. I love this ride. To be honest, this is the first time I've had a cymbal make me feel the desire to play more. I love the bell as well as the ride's smooth sound. I couldn't be more happier with my purchase. Thank you Sabian!
