These little blue squares of semi-sticky gel are the world's greatest drum accessory! A must-have for any drummer! Just move them around to change the tone, and they remove a lot of the ring in your unmuffled drums! A dramatic change can be made in snare drums and can almost completely change your toms. Even works on cymbals! If they lose their sticky, just wash them and in seconds they are brand new! I love these things!

These thin patches of goo were stuck so hard to each other I had to spend 10 minutes separating them without ripping. Four tiny patches in a plastic box..
The drum sound is hardly impacted, regardless of where I placed them. Makes no real difference.
Maybe this works for others but I wonder how genuine all those positive reviews are.. Some relate to 6 patches while the box only has four.

I've been using the plastic dampening rings for years and years. But the Moonel does the same thing to the ring, but with out sucking the tone and sustain out of the drum.

I use Remo rings for the side of the drum you hit, and i had 1 pack of moongels so I thought maybe it could help more if I put them on the side or the drums you don't hit for even more of a muffler. Well it worked just as I expected :) But yeah overall awesome product!

            Moongels

Comments about RTOM Moongel Percussion Dampening Gels:

These things got rid of the extra ringing in my snare. I have Evans heads on it, but even they weren't enough to make my 14x5.5 inch snare. I have a Yamaha Rydeen kit, which is a beginner kit but these Moongels made it sound pretty professional to me. I tried other rings to dampen the sound but nothing worked like these did. I strongly recommend these for anyone trying to get rid of unwanted ringing and overtones.

At Last - A Reusable Dampening Product!

            By Matt T

            from Undisclosed

Comments about RTOM Moongel Percussion Dampening Gels:

The Moongel Damper Pads are a unique product from RTOM. They allow a drummer to dampen any drum head live or in the studio to any degree of their choosing. I bought these pads primarily for my larger drums, but found myself using them everyplace!

Out of the box: The pads come in a small handy container that is extremely light weight. That means it will take up no space or weight when traveling with your gear. You get four pads made of a blue non-toxic gel-like substance. Each pad is approximately 1"x1.5" and about 1/8" thick. Their consistency reminds me of Jello. They are sticky enough to stay put anywhere (even cymbals!), but pull off easily. The pads are washable (read reusable) and can be cut to any size you wish.

I have used these pads live and in the studio with great results. Need to change your dampening? No problem, just add or subtract a little more Moongel. They can be placed anywhere, so you don't have to worry about hitting them with a drumstick. And best of all, you can reuse them all you want!
So throw away that duct tape and start using Moongels!

            WHAT EVERYONE NEEDS!

Comments about RTOM Moongel Percussion Dampening Gels:

Simply put, every drummer or percussionist should have atleast a package of these on hand! These can make a horribly tuned drum sound amazing! I put 3 on my floor tom, 2 on my snare, and one on each of my rack toms! The cool thing is, you dont have to use them on drums! you can place them on cymbals and hi-hats for special sounds that you can only get from moongels!!

            The Only Way To Go

            By Drew-g5rwa

            from Cary, NC

Comments about RTOM Moongel Percussion Dampening Gels:

I first bought these because they were cheap. Now I buy them because they're so effective. I keep two on my snare drum, one on my rack tom, and 3 on my floor tom. I used to dampen drums with paper towels and duct tape, but these are much cleaner looking, and they just peel right off. My floor tom, which I keep three on, has the worst overtones imaginable. I've tuned it the best I could, and even my friend has tried tuning it! I put the dampener pads on and it sounds great. I put one at about 12 o'clock, another at about 8, and the last at 4. My snare is naturally very loud and rings pretty loudly, but the dampener pad works great for me. This one I keep 2" from the top of it. The tom I keep it on gives it a nice THUD! sound, just the way I like it, and works great. If you ever want to experiment with different drum sounds, just peel them up and put them somewhere else. I like how if they get dirty after a while, take them and soak them in water and soap for a little bit and they're the same as when you pull them out of the container. The great thing about these is that you can experiment with them. For my tiny 7x8 tom, i just cut one in half to put on it. They measure 1x1.5 in, so you never need to worry about accidently hitting them. These things will go anywhere, even on cymbals. I put one on the bell of my ride today for fun and it sounded really cool. The best, and most convenient, is the mobility of these. Remo O rings are nice. Evans Muffle rings are ok. These, you can move wherever you want. If you keep these really close to the rim, they sound just the same as all the other products. If you move them closer to the center, the pitch gets lower, and there's less of an echo. I've turned all of my friends on to this product and they all love it just as much as I do. I highly recommend these and would go as far to say as these are the only option to go for dampeners.

            great stuff

            By Bill Bowman

Comments about RTOM Moongel Percussion Dampening Gels:

I have several containers of moon gel. I have only been useing 1 container. I love this stuff, if it gets lint, wood chips, and the general grime on it, just wash them in mild soap and warm water, let them air dry and your good to go. This is way better than the e-rings or duct tape. If needed put them on, if not leave them off. Just need a little cut them till you have what you need. You can't do that with tape or the rings. These can be moved around the drum as well to find just the right spot. THEIR GREAT !

            small, but mighty

            By John Jaworski

            from McHenry, Illinois

Comments about RTOM Moongel Percussion Dampening Gels:

This little things really do help curb unwanted resonance and ringing. I've use Moongels on countless gigs and they never choke the sound of my kit, but they do make my kit sound like it's worth a couple hundred dollars more than it really is! If they get dirty, just wash them off with some soap and water and there as good as new. My only beef with these things is that chips of wood from your sticks will not willingly relinquish their grip from these little gooey pads, but that's a small price to pay for such a great product!
