Was looking for that good ol' 60s sound for a beat up floor tom I found in my buddy's basement and this head couldn't have fit the bill any better. Can get really deep and earthy too, really compliments my other floor tom. Used a clear ambassador for the bottom. Felt like I entered wormhole.

I have these heads installed on a Ludwig L8024 kit, and they sound great. They do indeed look different from your average head. I have one installed on my snare batter side, and have them on batter and resonant sides on all three toms, and am very pleased with the tone. I like a deep old-time jazzy tone on my toms, and these produce that sound for me. With virtually no over ring, very little muffling is required, and what little I do use is supplied by light felt strips under the batter sides.
