Comments about Remo Crimplock Symmetry Skyndeep D1 Conga Drumhead:
I bought a set of these to replace my existing Fiberskyn heads which were damaged in transport between gigs. I figured I'd keep everything alike and put 'em on my bongos too. I was very pleased with the sound. While Skyndeep heads do not sound exactly like natural skin heads, the do have a nice warm tone, and much less overtone/ring than the Fiberskyns, which I hade to tape, mood gel, and muffle to get a nice natural sound. The skyndeeps sound great right out of the package, with no modification whatsoever.
Downside? Well, the Quinto head, based on the size chart from Remo, was a bit snug. It almost didnt fit into the comfort curve hoop on my LP drum, but with some careful tuning and a bit of finesse, the fit was made, and the head settled in just fine.
