Regal Tip Jeff Porcaro Artist Series: Smooth as silk

from Undisclosed

Comments about Regal Tip Jeff Porcaro Performer Series Drumsticks:

I've played this stick for a total of three years, as I am starting over/beginning again after a college percussion course. Having tried lacquered sticks, which consistently fly out of my hands during rudiments, I invested in this Regal Tip series, hoping it's unlacquered status would help.
Not only was I able to get a decent grip on these, but after 3 years, I haven't developed the first blister, and splinters are a non-issue. Combine this quality, with the baby's-butt, silky texture of the stick, it's a joy to pick them up and attempt to play anything. They remind me of my father's cabinet work-flawless-and not a single stick has shattered! Outstanding!! I have read an interview with Porcaro during which he stated he had 'self-induced arthritis'. Regal's lacquer heats up with a player's body temperature. By leaving out that step for Jeff, the Calato gang did him a favor (he could get rid of a stick if his hands started cramping up!). This would be a boon to any player finding themselves in much the same situation. For me, the stick is the right diameter; I have small hands (as I am female) and a 5B is too big to handle with any sort of control or precision. These are perfect for a beginner like me, and offer a stability lacquer doesn't.
