Cool rods are great for sound, about 25% lower volume. They are great for getting a lower volume mix with the band but need taping like a hockey stick to about 3/4 to the tip to have good durability. I do recommend them.

Cool rods are very nice but not very durable. They last much longer if you tape em up like a hockey stick. The way they break is by crashing the side of the cymbols and chipping away at the dowels. If you aviod this and tape them up they last a good while and sound great with about 25% lower volume than regular sticks.

these rods have a great soft sound, but they just don't last. i purchased these sticks about a week or so ago, and one of the dowels have broken already. if you have the money to keep buying new cool rods, go for it, but otherwise only buy them if you need them (or be extremely gentle with them)
