Fabulous Snare drum

By Pops

Ask me a question

Comments about Pearl Chad Smith Signature Snare Drum:

I was certain I would never purchase a "Signature" series drum.
I broke down and bought this snare and all I can say is; this drum is unbelivable as a rock snare, however; it is not limited to rock only. Great tuning range and articulate and sensitive.
Tunes up easily (using a drum dial.
Love it.

Brilliant

By Ryan-YlpXZ

from EDI, UK

Comments about Pearl Chad Smith Signature Snare Drum:

Unbelievable sound for a metal snare. If you tune it up tight it has an amazing crack and is easily 10x better than my old snare, which was from a Gretsch Black Hawk kit. It's really versatile and can be tuned to suit a variety of styles, but is an excellent all out rock snare. I currently have Remo Ambassador heads on the top and bottom, with the top skin very tight and the bottom skin of medium tension and I absolutely love the way it sounds. When it is mic'd up at a gig it just booms round the whole room. Bargain!!

A very good buy

By Drum Bum-gxjhh

Comments about Pearl Chad Smith Signature Snare Drum:

I play mostly on high-end equipment, and love to rate lower-end stuff. As far as low-end snares go, this is truly a good snare. You don't have to worry very much about annoying overtones; I threw on a moongel and it sounds very decent. Not the the best looking latching system, but I actually haven't had any problems with it yet and the snare is getting on in years. The shell itself is made of steel, and sounds fine. Of course always remember that good tuning and quality skins make the difference between a cheap snare and great sounding snare.

Probably the best sounding snare ever.

By Matt Heisler-3llys

from Pownal, VT

Comments about Pearl Chad Smith Signature Snare Drum:

I just got this for Christmas, and I couldn't be happier. It's punchy, round, bright, cracky, sensitive, and loud. A little tinny and shallow in the studio, but then again if you're going for a Chad Smith sound then it's perfect. Live, it's absolutely incredible. It makes my live shows so much better, no question. BUY THIS FREAKIN' SNARE!

the ultimate

By jase

from england

Comments about Pearl Chad Smith Signature Snare Drum:

I have played and heard many snares. This is the best for playing live and sounds good recorded too.....A must for any rock player, so clean and cutting, slices through any guitar sound. If you tighten the snare wires up a bit gives a real satisfying blat!!!Also never seems to go out of tune, no matter how hard you hit it. This snare was also made to sound better when hit hard!

Best Snare forever

By Tibi

from Mosonmagyar=vßr, Hungary

Comments about Pearl Chad Smith Signature Snare Drum:

I get it on last week and I fell in love when I played in it first. Powerful, characteristic sound with feel that you are in a higher level of live. Everybody that could afford it should try it. There are no better snare drums.

Updating old review to 5 Stars

Comments about Pearl Chad Smith Signature Snare Drum:

Updating my J.R.H. review, After really using this snare for some time it is even better than I reviewed this snare when I first purchased it. I feel a little guilty because I own so many fine snare drums, but the Chad Smith snare is really the only one I need. I use it on gigs and it's awesome !!! I play with a six piece band and it cuts right through. The tone is super fine using a Evan's genera "DRY" head. This drum is also dependable. I bring two other snare's for back up and never need them ! The other sound I like in a snare is 6 1/2 +14 Brass but The Pearl Chad Smith snare is a total winner for the money spent!!!

Best crack of any snare I've played

By Daryl Clay

from Chester, Virginia, USA

Comments about Pearl Chad Smith Signature Snare Drum:

This snare really provides that crack I look for. Responsive, reverberating sound that goes right to the core. Remo heads are a must. Coated Ambassadors work the best. Chad Smith knew the sound he was after and he captured it here. Excellent drum for rock, country, jazz, and heavy-metal.
