Be real: there are slight variations in bass pedals and such, but when you get down to it, double bass is all out of skill (i.e. the pedal doesn't play fast...YOU do.) If you're one of those gear-heads that has to have the latest little innovations in cams and such, go buy a 5000 pedal. If you want to save money on a pedal that will do just the same thing (trust me, I have a 5000 as well as this one), I can honestly say this will serve you well. The only thing I could ask more of is a little more length on the connector arm between the pedals. Other than that, it's got the same basic feel, movement, and durability of a higher-end DW pedal.

The cusion for hitting the bass drum is made out of a rubbery material which causes my bass drum to make a strange noise every time I hit it. Also for the second bass pedal it does not stay still. It has velcro on the bottom but it can not stick to any surface. I need to use my snare stand to keep it still. This is the last product I will most likely buy from PDP

Comments about PDP DP402 Double Bass Drum Pedal:

I have been playing drums for nearly 20 years. In all that time a double bass pedal has never been in my arsenal. That all changed when I noticved that I use my left foot on the hi-hats and in practice much like one would use on a second bass pedal. I wanted to give a double pedal a try but I didn't want to, nor could I afford to buy an expencive pedal just to start with. One of the things I was looking for was that if I wasn'
t satified with the double the quality and funcionality of the right foot pedal must maintain or exseed the pedal I was using at that time. Right out of the box the PDP402 was sturdy, easy to set-up, and most importantly easy to use. I have never used a double pedal before but right our of the box I was happily on my way to triplet and quad fills, and complex sounding trilept punctuations. It's all I could ask for in a double pedal. It handels my large, size 14 1/2 foot along with my heal up style and full leg stricks, and I'm 330lbs. I've had it now for 2 months. I play an average of 6-8 hrs per week and the PDP 402 is my only/primary bass pedal. If you're new to thew double pedal and want to learn and have for a while I would recommend this to anyone.

Ummm.... not really worth it

By Jon Woo

Comments about PDP DP402 Double Bass Drum Pedal:

I guess that the pedal is okay if you want to buy shin guards and wear army boots. Not the best out there, could spend more for a better one. I seriously had to adjust it so much that I could've just bought a new one.

JUNK

Comments about PDP DP402 Double Bass Drum Pedal:

This pedal is not worth even the 20% off coupon that I used to purchase it (saved me $20). I am currently in the process of drilling and re-tapping the screw holes for adjusting the beater distance. I have bent FOUR allen head wrenches and still no movement. way too stiff for my taste. nothing on this pedal is intended to be adjustable. all the screws are glued in place. I would highly recommend spending a little more for something funtional.

A little Stiff

By Drummer Chick

from WA State

Comments about PDP DP402 Double Bass Drum Pedal:

This pedal wasn't as smooth as i had hoped. It was choppy and I really had to kick into the pedal to get the results and sound that I wanted. I'd recommend saving your money up for something better and more smooth if you want to focus on speed.

The price = the quality

By Alex-8Z37D

Comments about PDP DP402 Double Bass Drum Pedal:

It's not a terribly bad pedal, but you can tell you got a budget/beginner product. I was a little disppointed right away because it was a lower quality than my previous double bass pedal (which I bought 3 years ago at the same price), but it's the same model as a single bass pedal I got with a kit, so I was already used to the feel. My biggest gripe is that the pedals can't be moved closer to the head in their still position. It takes a longer stroke than I'm used to to connect. You can get used to it in not too long and there is an upside in that you get a lot of power to your stroke (adjust the beater head down to reduce the stroke distance and power if you want. The springs adusters are also not that great, but luckily I saved the washers from my old pedal so I just plugged those in. The beater heads are a cheap-looking plastic, but actually sound surprisngly good, I think. It'll take some getting used to, and I wouldn't recommend it for any serious 2x-bass-ing metalheads, but for occasional double use and powerful rock bass lines this works well enough.
