Beautiful, beautiful sounding hi-hat. The sound edge design gives a very controllable response spectrum. The sound is bright and crisp at every stage. You can go from a crisp tic sound when tightly closed and playing with a nylon tip to a beautiful wash sound when played with the shoulder and half open. The transition from closed to open is less sudden (and therefore more easily controlled) than traditional edge cymbals.Paiste signature series have a very bright and phenomenally musical sound to them. Some vendors try to sell you on the idea of "sonically matched" cymbal sets. The best cymbal setup I came across used the opposite approach using K Zildjian for the ride, HHX for the dark sounds and Paiste signature for the brights. I like my High Hat to be bright and crisp so this is absolutely the perfect pair of cymbals for me.They do cost though. A lot! But for bright, crisp and controllable sound they can't be beaten.

I have used these for about 3-4 years now and I love 'em!Very defined sound closed and lovely washy feel half open...cut through any guitar sound...Great for complex footwork as ultra responsive...I also find them very distinctive when compared with other brand name hi-hats...I say these are the musical drummers hats!!!

I purchased these hats 5 months ago and could not be more pleased. I play a variety of styles including classic rock, jazz and a number of recording projects. Some rock players might think they are a little bright but they cut through the high end really well. They sound amazing when in the studio and you will not find a better jazz hat.
