A classic. The unique rippled bottom prevents air lock, giving an overall sharp "chick" and splashy open sound. Very clear projection.
Made with CuSn8 bronze for a bright, cutting, and energetic tone. Great for live and studio gigs requiring high energy and the utmost in precision and musicality. Heavier models have been added to round out the original classic series by providing increased volume.

Great Hi-Hats
Comments about Paiste 2002 Sound Edge Hi-Hats:
These hi-hats are awesome!!! They sound crisp, and sound great all around whether your closing/opening with your foot, or hitting with a stick. These hats suit any style of music.

the very best
Comments about Paiste 2002 Sound Edge Hi-Hats:
I've played 2002/14"sound edge for 30yrs, recording/live, for a rock drummer they are the only hi/hats with that historical soundtotally unique. You just know when you hear themthat they are sound edge, and you just want to play them forever.

THESE HATS ARE GREAT!
Comments about Paiste 2002 Sound Edge Hi-Hats:
They are a definite classic and sound awesome. Extremely articulate and good in all volume settings, but really rock when hit hard.Keep in mind since they are rippled to prevent airlock, you won't need to screw up the nut on the seat for the bottom hat which will actually take away from the articulation .They arerippled for a reason!!!

Great Sound/Crack Often
Comments about Paiste 2002 Sound Edge Hi-Hats:
I've had two sets of the 2002 Sound Edge hats, and have had both pair crack. The sound is unbeatable, but I can get them to last at all, top or bottom. I'm not sure if it's the "dead zone" due to the wavy edge or what. I'll probably move onto a straight classic 2002 set of hats and try that.

Paiste 2002's are wonderful!!!
Comments about Paiste 2002 Sound Edge Hi-Hats:
I bought my first Paiste 2002's back in the '70's. I chose them because I loved the cymbal sounds of John Bonham from Led Zeppelin and Nick Mason from Pink Floyd. Also, a feature I liked was that the sound of the cymbal size and type remain consistent. If you lose or damage one of them, the same sound can be replaced. Not true of all cymbal manufactures. It's difficult to reproduce the opening strains of Led Zeppelin's "Rock and Roll" on anything but a set of 15" Paiste 2002 Sound Edge hi-hats. There are many great cymbals available on the market, but I will always incorporate Paiste 2002's in my setup.

Zeppelin to a tee
Comments about Paiste 2002 Sound Edge Hi-Hats:
I got a pair of these second hand from a professional full time drummer who had used them for 6 months and was going overseas, and oh the joy. They work cleanly at lower volumes and even better at the highest of volumes, and since I like to play a lot of high volume blues rock, that's how I like it. And for all the beating they stand up well, a two years of playing before I had to keyhole a crack out of the top hat after my guitarist friend went to town on them while I was away at University. But no cracks have opened up since, and even with the keyhole they still sound better and louder than any other hi hats I've ever heard. They're thick and strong and still very musical, a little dry and rough for some maybe but if you like that Zeppelin sound, brillo pads. I'd say if you can afford them, get them.
