Made with CuSn8 Bronze, also known as "2002 Bronze", the Paiste 2002 series is based on the first cymbal series fully developed for electronically amplified music. During the 1960's developing Beat and Rock music required cymbal sound to match the new frequencies and volume levels and in 1967 the Giant Beat series was created - The 2002 was developed 1971 fusing the power of the Giant Beat with the differentiation of the Jazz series Formula 602.

cymbal has some dry qualites, slight warm-entergetic tones and a nice ping sound when struck. overall a pretty good cymbal for different types of rock music

I got this second hand and it looked about 10 years old and had chinks and scratches all over it, but it was a Paiste 2002 so I got it anyway. It's a bit pingy maybe due to it's having weight but only just, you can everything from delicate ping to a nice wash to blitzkrieg scream with the change of where you hit it and then a bit more elbow, though it's generally louder than my old music teacher would have liked. The bell is nice and loud too, I don't need a separate cowbell anyway. And after 4 years of battering it still hasn't shown any sign of breaking, even though when I got it there were several large gouges around the edge from it being dropped on concrete or something, seriously a good millimeter deep and nothing has grown from any of them yet. I'd like to see what a 24" inch classic ride would be like but take it from me, nothing will have the durability of the heavy ride, and the classic will have to be pretty special to out weigh that for my liking.
