The Meinl MCS Cymbal Pack with Free Filter China contains 14" medium hi-hats, a 16" medium crash, a 20" medium ride, plus a FREE Filter China. These Meinl cymbals are all specially harmonically matched for the most musical sound.
Created with the B8 alloy of 92 percent copper, 8 percent tin (plus traces of silver) for bright, rich, laser-clear sound quality.
The Free 14" Filter China cymbal provides a fast, sharp, and almost sinister sound. Quieter than most China cymbals, it has a short sustain due to the waved edge.
Most remarkably, its look is achieved by a capillary fine lathing process that sets the bell apart from the rest of the cymbal's surface. This highly technical lathing process results in a clearer and more projecting bell sound.
A deep lathing groove is applied on to the cymbal's surface, remarkably reducing its thickness and weight. This results in a quicker response that enables the sound to unfold much easier. Along with precise hammering patterns, the new Meinl MCS cymbals set the standard in this price range.

What a pleasant surprise! I like a light, crisp ring but thought I'd try a new brand.The MCS Pack is not what I would have purchased had I listened first... Meinl medium are a similar weight to Paiste heavy. (at least to my ears) That being said, I stripped the protective varnish for them, and treated with my special electrolyte formula. In 24 hours they look and sound like old heavy broken-in Rock cymbals. I mean if you get dark, go verrrry dark, right? With or without false aging these are great dark, earthy cymbals, perfect for heavy Rock, Drum & Bass, Jungle, or Industrial style music. I'll likely keep my old Sabians as the main cymbal set, but I would buy this whole set for just the sound,the "free" China. It is unique among cymbals. A splash front with sustained gong-like overtones.

Lovin the free china... If you hit it hard with a bass beater it sounds like a $400 gong! rides bell is a little soft, but the bow of the cymbal is great to ride on. BRIGHT CRASH!!!! Too bright for now in my opinion, but thats whats great about cymbals, give em a month or two... they will mellow out. hi hats are great nice chuck shut, and tik strokes. washy when open. If you are looking for the cymbals of the future go with Meinl. If you are looking for a cheap intermediate set GO WITH MCS's!

I have an old Pearl International drum kit that had the original cymbals and they were cracked and worn so it was time to find the best bang for my buck on the cymbal market. I found this set of Meinl cymbals and did some research and listened to all the reviews on multiple sites: they were right. I have been playing these cymbals a few hours every day for the last couple of weeks and they show no signs of letting me down. The hi-hats sound great, the bell on the ride comes through clear, the crash sounds excellent, and the free china is even legit to boot! I am very impressed with the quality and would buy this cymbal set again any day of the week. You cannot go wrong with this cymbal set.
