A personally recommend them...

Comments about Meinl Marathon Classic Wood Conga:

Owning two Marathon Series Conga (quinto and conga) I and have been amazed by the sounds they emmit. They are comfortable to play, not to mention the True Skin heads that allow me to perform such unique and exquisite bass and slaps. The wood gives them a warm, yet sharp, sounds when doing bass and slaps.-

Professional quality at an affordable price!

from Morris County, New Jersey USA

Comments about Meinl Marathon Classic Wood Conga:

In my many years as a hand percussionist, I have come upon many different brands of conga drum. For the money, I feel that Meinl makes the best quality drum in both sound and appearance. Slaps and open tones cut through clear and true, and the bass tones are just as powerful. I was so impressed with the quality of the Headliners that I was convinced that my next set would be Meinl. LP makes quality equipment, but I feel that you pay more for the name than the product. The Marathon series are a great intermediate between the Headliners and the Professional series, (Especially if you are not necessarily swimming in cash) For beginners, I would recommend Headliners because they give excellent quality for the price (a little metallic in sound, but rookies probably won't notice) and if you bang them up you won't be too angry. The Meinl professional bags are a great accessory for your new Marathon congas.
