The sound of Havana and Miami!

The quinto is 11" in diameter and 30" tall. Luis Conte is an acknowledged master of percussion, a grammy-winner whose touring and recording credits read like a who's who of contemporary music. He collaborated with Meinl to produce this splendid line of traditional-style congas.

The Meinl Artist Series Luis Conte Signature Congas combine the charm and sound of old Cuban traditional drums with the most modern of features and innovations. The congas are equipped with traditional rims and are mounted as close to the shell as possible. The True Skin buffalo heads enable a more controlled sound that's easier to tune.

bass for your face

Comments about Meinl Luis Conte Artist Series Quinto:

I just got the tumba 2 days ago and can't stop playing it. It is by the far the best sounding drum in my house so far. It has a huge clear deep bass sound, at loud or soft volumes. I should have bought the conga or quinto too, but figured my other drums had the highs covered. The finish is seamless on the out side, a little rough on the inside. the LP Giovanni bag fits it nicely and is great protection.

WOW ... great drum, awesome quality!

Comments about Meinl Luis Conte Artist Series Quinto:

I have only been playing congas about a year, I played a Meinl headliner set and decided to upgrade to the Luis Conte model for at home playing and personal drums. I cant believe the quality, the sound is great what a man of a drum these beasts are! I was undecided from these or a little more pricey from LP I'm glad I went with these they are just super!

Exceptional Quality - Great Value

By Djembe G

Comments about Meinl Luis Conte Artist Series Quinto:

The Meinl Luis Conte series congas are an outstanding value. Playing these in an Afro-Cuban class, I fell in love with the sound and immediately ordered my own! I haven't found anything else to match the sound for the price. The low end of Meinl's Professional range drums are the Marathon Classics. The Contes are very similar, but use a traditional counter hoop. These are a step above because they include Soundpads - rubber gaskets to insulate the metal tension plates from the wood shell of the drum. The rubber bottoms on the drums helps to further isolate vibrations. The next step up would be the Marathon Exclusive series with their heavier-duty chrome comfort hoop. All three of these models seem to have the same shell shape and quality construction of two-ply plantation-grown rubberwood. The fat belly on these drums is distinctive and makes for a beautiful, warm tone that you can't resist. The no-gloss finish and black powder-coated traditional hoop and tension plates on the Contes make for a beautiful vintage look. The hoop is set close to the shell and fairly far from the bearing edge, making play more comfortable than many other traditional hooped drums.
