A snare that's starred on countless records for 70 years!
Listen to any hit song from the '60s through today and chances are you're hearing a Ludwig snare drum. And the Supraphonic Black Beauty is among the most famous and legendary Ludwig snare drums of all. The Ludwig Black Beauty brass shell is constructed of a single sheet of metal that is machine drawn and spun into a seamless beaded drum, then black nickel plated with an exquisite finish. The shell provides a warm, round metallic tone.
This Black Beauty responds with excellent sensitivity at all volumes. It features Ludwig's Imperial lugs, triple-flanged hoops, and a hand-hammered shell. The 70 year tradition of the Ludwig Black Beauty carries on as one of the most ultimate snare drums in the industry.

Comments about Ludwig Hand Hammered Black Beauty Snare Drum with Imperial Lugs:
Nice job Ludwig! This is by far one of the most incredible snares out there. It has a very loud crisp sound, perfect for anything from heavy metal to jazz. Tune it up real high for a great magnificent pop sound, or tune it med-low for a strong rock sound! Don't make the trashy look of the snare fool you; it is by far way better than how it looks like. The eminent part of this snare is its beauty in sound. Also, tuning this snare drum is perfectly easy. The lugs are very smooth, which makes it easier to turn them, making tuning to a high pitch more comfortable. You don't have to put pressure on your hands to turn the lugs anymore! The size of this snare is not too big, so you still have enough leg space. In my opinion, this supra-phonic snare drum is a lot better than the heavy metal carbon snare drum, and even more preferable than the Joey Jordison snare drum. I guess when it says it's the most legendary snare drums of all, they are right! It is a little pricey, but it is worth every penny. I highly recommend this snare because of its sound, loudness, and great size.
