Ludwig

A timeless, versatile, classic snare drum used on countless recordings.

Acrolite aluminum shell with SupraPhonic snares and classic lugs.

The seamless aluminum shell provides the professional sound quality and ease of tuning that this classic drum is famous for while the SupraPhonic snares provide unmatched sensitivity.

Tune low for a warm, fat sound; tune high for a crack with pop. The 5-1/2" drum is very articulate and cutting. The 6-1/2" drum offers more body and an extended lower tuning range.

The drop-dead gorgeous Black Galaxy finish and classic lugs make this drum look every bit as good as it sounds.

versatile

Comments about Ludwig Aluminum Snare Drum:

I've used this as my main snare for just about as long as I've been playing. The shell is aluminum, which sounds like a steel drum, but mellower and not as harsh. Great if you want a metal sound at lower volumes. Uses the classic Ludwig P-85 strainer; I'd suggest removing the internal mute and applying tape or gel to the head to dampen the drum. It will open up more that way. Also, buy a set of Remo Ambassadors.Sounds great in the studio as well. One of the better metal drums in its price range. Works best with rock/pop and mainstream music. Not reccomended for hard rock/metal.

great snare for all drummerboys!

Comments about Ludwig Aluminum Snare Drum:

I remember the acrolite from years ago when it was a dull matte gray, these days they`re much nicer with the cool black powder-coated finish. The sound is awesome, great projection and great sensitivity and of course cheaper than a steel supraphonic.

Comments about Ludwig Aluminum Snare Drum:

This snare is very versatile and very reliable. I use it for many different kinds of music and in all styles it exceeds most snares twice the price.

awesome, reliable snare!

Comments about Ludwig Aluminum Snare Drum:

I've had this snare for 5 years. I got it in elementary school as a rent, but I later bought it. I've been using different Remo heads on it, and they all sound great with the acrolite. I love this snare! I recommend it in the studio. It sounds great.
