Evans Coated ST Dry Snare Batter Drum Head

By Johnny Chops

from Milwaukee, WI

Comments about Evans ST Dry Coated Snare Drumhead:

If you play hard rock, metal or are an extremely hard hitter, this is the batter head for you. If you break a stick while playing, the St Dry double-plys don't care. I've used gels to dampen over-tones, didn't like the results. The Dry venting holes allow for a focused note, while letting the snare function as it should. This drum head is not articulate nor do I believe it was ever made to be. I have this head on a Ludwig birch snare and a DW aluminum body snare. The birch cracks like rifle and aluminum has a lower, richer sound. I have the Evans Dry Snare batter head (single ply coated) on a maple snare drum and it has a warmer, full-bodied sound. If you really dry and focused tom drums, Evans Hydraulic batter heads are great.
