Wonderful tom heads!
Comments about Evans Hydraulic Blue Tom Batter:
I have had trouble getting my newest set of drums to sound "right" or the way I like them. They are Gretsch drums made out of mahogany and really deep. All are extra deep, including snare. First, I've never had mahogany, next the sizes.
Anyway they came with evans white coated heads on top and clear evans on reso sides of all but bass drum. The bass drum sounds pretty good, to my ears.
I never could quite tune the toms or snare to suit me. I bought a new head for the snare thinking that must be it. I still never liked the sound. (I had a steel snare, regular depth for years, very different). I had always wanted a wood snare, as I thought it'd be easier to get the extra ring out..wrong!
I bought a different head (some form of aquarian) for the snare, but got the blue hydraulics for the toms. Man, what a difference. They sound great with no muffling needed!. Oh, the ft sounds SO much better. More like my old ft did (and it was 2" bigger). I fell in love with these heads the moment I put them on, and they looked cool on my toms, then when I heard them I knew nothing else would go on my toms.
I think I may order one for my snare...hey, if it's good for goose...oh wait, drums aren't geese...
Anyway, it still is not sounding right..maybe I just can't tune it..but seriously, may try the hydrualic.

Did the job!
Comments about Evans Hydraulic Blue Tom Batter:
I use hydraulics for batter heads anyway, but in this case on a set of large roto toms (14" & 16"). Sound is now very puncy and thick.

Great Deep Tone
Comments about Evans Hydraulic Blue Tom Batter:
These heads are great. I use them as batter heads on my Ludwig birch and they sound like a dream. I use to always tune my heads loose to get a deep sound, but the sound that came out wouldn't be what i was shooting for. With these heads i tune them somewhat tight and they sound wonderful. If you buy these heads you will never need a dampening device for your toms again.
