Outstanding Evans G1 Coated Heads

By drummitt

from Undisclosed

Comments about Evans G1 Coated Batter Drumhead:

I have tried many types/styles of heads in my 50+ years of drumming. These are by far the best I've used! They have response, depth, tone everything you want in a drumhead. If you breathe on these heads they respond but if you dig into them they're still there supporting your efforts and responding with the sound you want. Heads or shells are only part of the sound you make. I want a head that gives me back what i put into it. Nothing more, nothing less. These are it for most styles other than the heavier rock and metal. They adapt to many types of music. Glad I found them and you will be too if you're looking for a drum head to help "show your voice"!

G1 for snare batter

By Bill Stevenson

from Undisclosed

Comments about Evans G1 Coated Batter Drumhead:

I have settled on the G1 for my snare batter head. I am a jazz drummer, play Noble & Cooley snares and have G1's on a piccolo and a 5x14 snare drum. These heads have a resilient, tactile feel and respond well when played with both sticks or brushes. The coating holds up well for brushes. The sound is warm with only a moderate ring. They can be tuned over a broad range of tension, but seem to work best in the middle range. The G1 would be recommended for light to moderate volume playing in an accoustic ensemble from jazz to classical. Evans heads are well made, consistent, and durable, holding their tuning very well. Highly recommended.

First Rate heads

Comments about Evans G1 Coated Batter Drumhead:

I have played a lot of heads in nearly 50 years of drumming. Evans coated G1's gives me the warmth and depth of tone that I am looking for. I play Gretsch drums and find that I get really deep, fat tones from the Evans heads that I don't get from others. And they last! I don't have coating chipping off after a couple of weeks. And they have that little bit of extra room that makes changing heads and seating them no problem--I don't have to force them or worry if I have a 'high side' that needs special attention. They fit perfectly every time. I get a pure tone without a lot of 'slap' in my attack. They sound great for an open jazz sound or more muffled for a rock beat. Just about perfect in every way.
