best sounds in drums
Comments about Alesis DM5 18-bit Drum Module:
I always get great compliments on my sound. I use an Alesis DM5 unit that has the edit update along with Drum Tek pads..so easy to set up and tear down. UNMATCHED SOUND PERIOD!

Awesome but....
Comments about Alesis DM5 18-bit Drum Module:
This module is clearly the best buy for the medium to pro player (even ambitious beginner). You can't go wrong with Alesis. The DM5 is packed with features yet is simple to use. The only thing that has annoyed me over the years is the lack of a snare rim sound! I also agree with a reviewer that it contains an abundance of ridiculous sounds, while not only missing rim sounds, but stuff like cool reggae effects etc. HOWEVER, the drum sounds are more than awesome, realism is off the hook and you get construction that lasts. I use acoustic cymbals with my electronic drums too (can't beat that).

Comments about Alesis DM5 18-bit Drum Module:
I love this unit for recording and live. Only thing I've not figured out is how to make my crashes choke??? It may not have the ability to do so and I would like to know if it does. If anyone can answered that, I would be very thankful!!!!

Outstanding drum sounds
Comments about Alesis DM5 18-bit Drum Module:
I have used many drum modules. Some have good sounds, some great, some terrible and all of them have poor cymbal sounds. This unit has some of the best snares, kicks and toms I have experienced. There are even a couple of passable cymbal samples in here too, although I use and recommend the use of acoustic cymbals. If and when I do replace my DM5 it will be with a DM Pro. Alesis makes some really decent gear at real-world prices. Their tech support staff are friendly, smart and helpful people. I do business with them whenever possible. When I need a new piece of gear, if Alesis makes it I will always try theirs before making a decision.

Fantastic sounds
Comments about Alesis DM5 18-bit Drum Module:
I've had my DM5 for 4 years and am extremely pleased with it. I started out using triggers on acoustic drums, but now I have Roland pads. I've heard the sounds from the DM Pro and I honestly thought they stunk! The sounds in the DM5 are much, much better (especially the toms). I don't understand why drummers still mess with acoustic drums and microphones.

A great product
Comments about Alesis DM5 18-bit Drum Module:
I have enjoyed this instrument for 6 years. With my drum pads, I have never had a problem. The sounds are very good. The hi hat is on-off only, with a switch. If you are looking for a module with open-semi-closed hi hat, you must see the DM Pro. The snare has the great feature of dynamic modeling. I love that on some nice snares. It has no effects, but samples have professional effects that usually you don't have on common drum modules.

Kicks ass!
Comments about Alesis DM5 18-bit Drum Module:
I purchased a DM5 about 2 years ago, and it has given me the sound I have always wanted. I trigger acoustic drum heads and set the DM5 according to my desire. I would recommend this to any drummer wanting the Pantera, Metallica, or Megadeth drum sound.

Great Drum Sounds
Comments about Alesis DM5 18-bit Drum Module:
I use this thing to record in studio. I love everything about it except for the way they made up goofy sounds just to reach 500 different souds, for example Silence [Effects #64] is not a sound. That was a rip, but, I still would take an alesis over any drum mod, just because of how easy they are to use. Great soud!
