Work great -- once you can actually get it to work

from Staffordsville, VA

Comments about Alesis LineLink Dual 1/4" to USB Cable Interface:

I recently purchased an Alesis LineLink in order to record my sound mix from a small Peavey 8 channel desktop mixer. I sometimes have problems getting my audio software to recognize the signal (Audacity), even after manually changing the signal source on Windows XP's system volume and in Audacity itself. Other programs I tried it with have a similar problem. Once I manage to get the signal working, one of the two wires seems to carry considerably more noise. To make sure it wasn't a problem with my mixer, I also used it with my Casio WK keyboard's stereo line out and had the same problem. Sometimes unplugging and reinserting the 1/4 in. plug fixes the problem, sometimes it doesn't. Once you can finally get it to work, it works great, but every time you plug it in be prepared to take anywhere from 10 minutes to half an hour to get it to work (and that's if you're above proficient when using a computer). I may have to go back to my old method of using a 1/4 in. plug to 1/8 in. plug cable to connect my mixer to my computer's mic-in port.
