Select from omnidirectional, cardioid, and figure-of-eight polar patterns with this versatile mic.

Audio-Technica's AT4047MP delivers vintage sound in a multi-pattern design with selectable omnidirectional, cardioid, and figure-of-eight polar patterns. The microphone's transformer-coupled output and specially tuned element provide sonic characteristics reminiscent of early F.E.T. studio microphone designs. With a wide dynamic range, incredibly low self-noise and high SPL capability, this versatile microphone excels on vocals, strings, acoustic guitar, instrument ensembles, small vocal groups, and voiceovers.

          Comments about Audio-Technica AT4047MP Multi-Pattern Condenser Microphone:

Having a home project studio on a budget, I scour magazine and on-line reviews thoroughly before plunking down my hard-earned coin on new gear purchases.

I have never for an instant regretted the purchase of the 4047MP.

With the multi-pattern capability of this mic, a pair was purchased for M/S recording, but single mic recordings have been a true pleasure with this mic as well.

With the 4047MP, I've recorded vocals, flutes, fiddles, acoustic guitar, accordion and have used the pair as overheads for drums.

What continually amazes me about this mic is it's ability to handle dynamics - all the while producing the silkiest high end.

From very soft (with low mic noise) to very loud (with no distortion), this mic sounds wonderful!

And the smooth top end requires no corrective EQ'ing like with other condenser mics.

If you have other FET's in your collection, even the "very expensive" variety, then you owe it to yourself to listen to the 4047MP.

If you don't have a quality FET in your mic locker yet, then the 4047MP is the one!
