Comments about Audio-Technica AT2020 Large Diaphragm Condenser Microphone:

I use this mic in my home studio recording setup and the clarity and bass response are remarkable for something in this price range . I have used this for vocals and record acoustic guitars . It is so easy to get a good clean signal within minutes guess you could almost call this plug and play with a few small adjustments on gain structure your set to record .I highly recommend this mic for any recording studio.

Comments about Audio-Technica AT2020 Large Diaphragm Condenser Microphone:

The Audio Technica 2020 is great for home studios. You can buy better, but these wont let you down. The 2020 looks great.
I'm not a professional singer, so I can't give the audio quality a perfect score. Others can comment on the small nuances that separate this mic based on audio quality. To me its great.
But for everything else; the 2020 is like an ox. It's heavy duty and made to last. It can handle ANY audio source. It's got a heavy solid feel. In my research before purchasing this microphone, I couldn't find one review complaining about the quality or reliability of the 2020. Just the opposite, the 2020 is more like a major department store; it may not be the most convenient choice, but when you want to make sure you get what you want the first time, this is the mic to reach for. I have personally verified that this works with a Sax (bari and alto#, guitar amps #8 and 12), acoustic guitars, and vocals. I currently have it setup in my sound booth and havent found a reason to change it out. I actually may buy a second one just so I dont have to take it down. The only down side is that its solid construction makes it a bit heavy, so make sure you have a good mic stand or use a weight at the bottom of your stand.

Comments about Audio-Technica AT2020 Large Diaphragm Condenser Microphone:

The Audio Technica AT2020 is my very first foray into the wonderful world of cardoid condenser microphones. As an amateur radio operator, or a ham radio op, I must say this microphone is superb in every way. My reason for giving Ease of Use a "good" rating is like I said, this my very first cardoid condenser mic, I didn't know anything about phantom power supplies or the like. Now that I do know, and have this as my main microphone for my radio station AI4HO, Alpha India Four Hotel Oscar. I have and still receive unsolicited great audio, or, you sound great, what mic are you using. I tell them an Audio Technica AT2020..doesn't everybody use this mic?

If you don't know anything about cardoid condenser microphones and are looking for a really, really great inexpensive microphone, then the AT2020 should be first on your list. While this is a great mic for studio both pro and home studio work, this mic also works well with instruments such as the drum, guitars both electric and non electric, tambourines too work well with this mic. Or, if you are a ham radio op like me and want something different in your arsenal of mics, this is it, look no further. The AT2020 by Audio Technica is a microphone for any and all, pro and amateur alike will enjoy the responsiveness and the rugged durability of this microphone. Thank you all for taking the time to read my review, and many thanks go to Audio Technica for building a superb mic in every way.

I am an audio enthusiast and a gamer, and I got this microphone because I stopped using headsets for gaming, and I started using audio-technica headphones, and I opted for a professional quality microphone, and the quality of this microphone is awesome without doubts. I paired this microphone with a high quality audio interface, and I can tell that this microphone works perfectly on VoIP( Voice over IP), Podcasting, Dialog and much more, A must-have professional microphone for any purpose where the performance and quality is a factor, and affordable for everyone.

                  Best regards!

I own two headset microphones. I own a wireless Nady UHF headset and a Audio Technica ATM75. The Audio Technica is a lot better durability and reliability. The headset from Audio Technica stays on my head a lot better than the Nady wireless. The Audio Technica headset mic is made a lot better than the Nady wireless. The Audio Technica is made out of metal for the headset and the Nady is made out of plastic. I like the Audio Technica a lot better.

I am the GM of a high school radio station and we have three 2020's and two 2021's. Kids can be tough on equipment but these mics keep sounding great day in and day out. I use them to record with, live talk on the air, and even use them on stage occasionally and they never let me down. Way to go AT!!!

Comments about Audio-Technica AT2020 Large Diaphragm Condenser Microphone:

The AT2020 is a pro-sounding mic. Its diaphragm is about 2/3-inch, as compared to the typical large-diaphragm condensers at 1-inch diaphragm size. But don't worry--It has a surprisingly BIG sound when used with even a modest preamp (the Art Tube MP and the Studio Projects VTB1 both work sweetly with this mic. I know, because I've used it with both preamps). Really, any decent condenser mic should be used with a preamp, if you aspire to "professional" sound quality. And the AT2020 is MORE than a decent condenser. It is fairly versatile, but best for voice, IMO. And that is a biggie. I record on a Roland VS2480 with the above preamps and love the results. I have ordered an AT3035 because I like the AT2020 so much, and the AT3035 (and the newer AT2035 as well) are reputed to have an even bigger, more detailed sound than the 2020. Even after I get the AT3035, I will use this mic often for background vocals, or the "huskier" voices I record to control the lows (think male R&B baritone, or Marian Anderson's spirituals). I will probably get another AT2020 to have a stereo pair for overheads or room-miking, in the relatively near future. But the AT2020 is supposedly great for electric guitar cabs and a lot of persussion. I have heard both "yays" and "nays" about its performance on acoustic guitar (I haven't used it that way myself yet), but it can work there. Don't know about the AT2020 for sax, trumpet and wind instruments though--I have no idea at this point. Maybe somebody else does. If you can't afford an AT2035 or 3035, this is the one to get. And DO use it with a preamp, even if only a cheap one (see above). Just concentrate on finding the preamp's "sweet-spot" (*highest* CLEAN gain you can get without hiss, hum or distortion);Have the recording device's levels LOW (like 1, or maybe 1-2 MAX). If you do this with the AT2020, it is likely you will get satisfying results. Highly recommended for the new recordist. Used with a preamp, this destroys the venerable SM57 for vocals.
