The Remo Kid's Percussion Rain Forest Floor Tom can be played with hands, mallets, or sticks. Compared to the Gathering Drum, the Remo Floor Tom is smaller in size and higher in pitch. However, the Floor Tom's more compact size makes it just right for individual drummers and imaginative team players. The Floor Tom can be used in combination with any of the other Remo Kid's Percussion instruments to create a kids' drum circle. Drum circles are a wonderful way for a group of children to experience the importance of teamwork and discipline while building listening skills that will continue to benefit them throughout their lives.

Love the sound, very authentic. Sits nicely on the ground. Mallets easy to hold, even for a four year old. Used it in my play therapy session and it was wonderful.

I am a Music Therapist and I always recomend this drum to my new mommies! Babies around 6 - 8 months are starting to sit up and this is a great way to keep them supported and interested. The bilateral coordination it takes to play the drum with two hands and the skills to hold the mallets (included) later on are all great for the baby's brain and motor skills development. You can support the baby with a boppy at first and have them straddle the drum....Mommy and Daddy can play along! Its the perfect size and will be a "toy" that they wont outgrow for a long time!

Hands down, this is the best drum on the market for kids. From the littlest child (even the 6 month olds can bang on it!) up to daddysizes (my 38 yr old neighbor plays this with his son, everyone loves it! It has great sound (not too loud!)and is very very durable. Comes with two wonderful sticks, too! If you are looking for a winner with any child, this is it.
