Ideal for fingerstyle players, with impressive dynamic range for its moderate size.
The Breedlove OM/SRe Herringbone Acoustic-Electric Guitar from the Roots Series features AAA solid Sitka spruce top, AAA solid rosewood back and sides, ivoroid binding with herringbone top purfling, abalone rosette, and an L.R. Baggs Element Active pickup system with volume and tone controls.
The Breedlove OM body style has a balanced tone and an impressive dynamic range for a moderate-sized instrument, and is ideal for fingerstyle players. The OM/SRe Herringbone offers custom shop performance and exceptional value in a U.S.-made acoustic-electric guitar.
All Breedlove Custom Shop steel-string guitars (except for the Revival Series), Pro Series and Atlas Series guitars use the JLD Bridge Truss system. This device is a cantilevered truss that helps to counterbalance string tension at the bridge, creating a relaxed top and improved structural integrity. This allows the tops to be braced in a very progressive way, with a focus on realizing the full acoustic potential of the top. A relaxed top provides maximal wavelength response and a synergy is created by use of a graduated top thickness, balanced scalloped bracing, and a pinless bridge in combination with the bridge truss system. This gives Breedlove guitars the distinctive and highly dynamic "Breedlove Sound", with a piano-like bass and a remarkably well-balanced tone suitable for a broad variety of musical styles.

Comments about Breedlove Roots Series OM/SRe Herringbone Acoustic-Electric Guitar:
I was about to pull the trigger on either the Martin 000ec-28 or something in the Taylor 8 series. Both had the features I wanted, except for the scale on the Martin. I had a chance to try a Breedlove Pro and decided that this Roots had every possible option I wanted, and sounded like a good mix of the two.
Fit and finish is flawless. This guitar was one of the very last, produced in 2012, and built in the Bend shop. The case is nicer than what comes with many high end guitars.
I like the Baggs system because the guitar isn' t cut for electronics, they are hidden in the soundhole.
This guitar has an ebony board, bridge, and pins. The spruce is lightly figured and the rosewood flawless. The satin mahogany neck is like glass. The action was spot on.
I have fitted a bone saddle and that opened the guitar right up. FWIW Taylor uses Tusq, which is what came on this one. I use Tusq on all my nuts so that will stay. The Tusq saddle wasn't bad, just isn't bone and doesn' t offer what I wanted. The fit of the factory nut and saddle were great.
MF/123 had these at a steal. I would gladly pay full price though.
I've contacted Breedlove a few times with very minor questions about the date and how to let the guitar acclimate prior to opening and they got back to me within hours.
